By Jim Dallas
1,294,409 votes as of yesterday; twice as many votes as this time in 2000.
UPDATE: A slight clarification was in order.

what do you make of the Austin for Change email saying 50% of registered voters will vote in Early Voting?
That was specific to Travis County, to clarify first of all.
Do more voters give an advantage to Democrats or Republicans?
TC,
Traditionally the Democratic Party benefits from increased voter turnout. The sad fact is, a lot of people to the left don't bother to vote, so when voter turnout increases, it usually means that the left is motivated. :)
i finally voted in the UGL yesterday. i was quite surprised by the number of ppl voting then and the length of the line. being an enginerd i don't go to that part of the campus much so i had yet to see for myself the high turnout y'all have been posting about for the past week. that was probably the first time i have ever had to wait in line to vote early at the UGL. while waitng in line i overheard some ppl around me talking about how this was the first time to vote. i had a strong urge to butt into their conversation and tell them that this was my TENTH time.
