The Edwards Bounce Kicks in

John Kerry is getting a boost from his selection of North Carolina Sen. John Edwards as his running mate, a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows.
The Democratic ticket now leads President Bush and Vice President Cheney 50% to 45% among likely voters, according to the survey taken Thursday through Sunday, with independent candidate Ralph Nader at 2%. The Kerry-Edwards lead widens to 8 points, 50%-42%, among registered voters.
The choice of Edwards helped Kerry consolidate support among Democrats and those who lean Democratic. Three weeks ago, 85% supported Kerry. Now 92% do.
Kerry / Edwards leads Bush / Cheney by eight points and Democrats are fully united behind our ticket. I'm happy.

Enjoy the bounce while lasts Byron, because you and I both know this race is going down to the wire. By the way, Bush is still ahead in the political futures market over at Intrade. He is ahead in all the states that he won in 2000 which we all know would give him 278 electoral votes this go around.Cheers
I still find it funny that as a republican blogger, your site is the powder blue report and not something like the Crimson Red Tide or seomthing.
Alan (any kin to Steve of Dallas?) is right. It's going to be a race to the wire. I do believe we will win, Alan. For my world view to work, I must believe that people seek enlightenment and honor truth. People like Bush and company can sneak ahead, but they cannot win an honest race. He's a steroid (family influence) pumping phony. His plan is not working. The world is not a safer place. We are not a stronger country. Just as light banishes darkness, truth banishes lies. We will win. It's not so much about Kerry being right as it is about Bush being wrong.
Kerry was not my first choice for the Democrat's nominee, but I'm happy to support him. He shows style and courage. Not only does he talk the talk, he has walked the walk. He's made of the Right Stuff. We are fortunate to have someone as imminently qualified to get us out of this morass as is John Kerry.
Believe me Houston, if i were to vote my conscious, I would vote for the libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik, but since I do not want to waste my vote on someone who can't win, I am still supporting President Bush. He has done alot of things to piss me off. We have controled all three branches of government for three out of the last four years and the spending is just out of control. That's what I like about most Democrats. At least they tell you that they are going to raise taxes and raise spending. I can respect that. I'll never vote for them because of that, but I respect it. Most Republicans want people to think they are for smaller government, but then they go to D.C and they lose all principle and backbone. Lastly, for all those Nader voters out there, I applaud your decision to vote your conscious, but this is for all the marbles and everyone knows he doesn't stand a chance. I sincerely thank everyone that does vote for Nader though :^)
Allan, Bush is below 50% in many of those states that you say he is leading in. Ohio, Missouri, Arkansas, and Virginia all have polls that say Bush is under 50, and all are statistical dead heats. Matter of fact Ohio has a recent ARG poll that has Kerry ahead 50-44. I was at the Dayton rally that had about 16,000 Kerry-Edwards supporters present. Cheers.
Hey lets look at North Carolina/USA Today poll conducted after selection; 56% for President Bush, 41% for Senator Kerry. Thats a 5 point bump for the President. Great selection, he can't even deliver his own state. I hear there's an opening at Domino's for a driver. No wait they like to be on time.
Ohio from Rasmussen and Fox has President Bush +4.
Isn't it amazing that many Senators that voted for the war before still would vote for the war NOW? ABC Nightline. Those include H. Clinton, C. Schumer, J. Biden, and T. Daschle.
