Hampsters for Kerry!!
By Byron LaMasters
Well, Kerry certainly must have the hampster vote after the night. After Alexandra Kerry's inspiring story of John Kerry diving into the river, grabbing that hampster, getting out of the river, performing CPR on the hampster (mouth-to-mouth) and saving its life.
Somehow, it's just not quite as inspiring as pulling Jim Rassmann out of the Mekong River in Vietnam, but in the world of hampsters, John Kerry is probably hailed as a hero nonetheless.
Speaking of Rassmann, he's up next, and the runners are handing out "Veterans for Kerry / Edwards" signs.

Think about it - he's done so much as to save a fellow soldiers life, and so little as to save the life of his daughter's hamster - if that doesn't show a sacredness for ALL live, I don't know what does.
I thought it was touching and kinda funny at the same time.
But tonight helped me see Kerry as more than just a statesman, also a father.
Let's all have a beer with John Kerry!
(actually, Byron might get the chance)
I have to say, goofy si, but that story went a long way towards selling me on Kerry as a person to be FOR, instead of just a vehicle against Bush. Because like she said, it sounds silly now, but it was damn important to those girls then. I know exactly what that's about. A kid's priorities are different. And instead of saying, "Oh honey, it's just a hamster", he took their priorities seriously. A parent that respects their kids, that says a lot about them.
Plus - funny! Leave No Hamster Behind!
Do you know if there are any "hamsters for Kerry" signs available for sale? Or buttons? I think they would be great.
John Kerry was awared the "Hampster Hero" award on www.hampsterdance.com
There is a site - www.hamstersforkerry.com - that has buttons, tshirts, signs and the like - check it out at the link below.
