More State Chair News

I wrote yesterday that David Van Os and Gary Mauro are running for state chair. So is Garnet Coleman and some people are trying to draft Jim Mattox. Now, Charles Soechting, former Hays County Chair is running, and there's still talk that Sherry Boyles might run. I'm quite surprised at the size of the field already. I expect it to shrink pretty soon.

Well, if it is by vote of the SDEC, then my guess is Mauro, Mattox, and Coleman have the best chances.
The last time David Van Os got a resolution in front of the SDEC, it went down in flames.
Not enough friends to make his candidacy viable.
I think Mauro is probably the frontrunner right now.
If Mauro and Mattox are sworn in, don't look for things to improve much for Dems statewide. Neither has been able to extend their support beyond core Democrat supporters.
I'd be all in favor of Coleman being the one if he were more willing to take the job on longterm rather than on an interim basis. Outside of that, I'm a bit indifferent.
