The Crimson and Cream Report?

By Byron LaMasters

That's what we could be next week, if OU wins today. We know it won't happen, but if the unimaginable does happen (again), we'll be the Crimson and Cream Report for three days next week.

That's my bet with Keith Gaddie of Sooner Politics. If UT wins, we'll have the pleasure of viewing Sooner Politics in burnt orange.

Here's what Keith has to say:

Byron LaMasters, guru of Burnt Orange Report.com and I have a friendly wager on the OU-Texas Game. If OU wins, BurntOrangeReport goes Crimson and Cream; if UT prevails, SoonerPolitics will be a lovely shade of Burnt Umber for a few days.

And Keith's comments about the debate are priceless:

I am not going to comment on the debate for at least 72 hours, except to make this one observation: I am very pleased to hear that George Bush will not appoint any justices to the Supreme Court who would seek to uphold slavery . However, I do need some firewood, so I may be driving down to Crawford to pick up a rick or two.

And in case anyone is curious, we're not the only ones with a friendly wager over sports this weekend.

Boi From Troy and Pathetic Earthlings have a friendly wager over the USC / Cal game.

Update: Ouch. Shutout. That's 0/4 in my four years at UT. Get ready for Crimson and Cream on Monday.

Damn. And the burnt orange on Sooner Politics would have looked so good.

Glorious day: John Howard wins, Afgan elections, W leading in the polls, and OU wins! Welcome Crimson and Cream!

Looking back at ya

Byron, you are gracious in defeat. I hope you don't have to get used to it.

Next time I'm in Austin (hopefully not during another redistricting), beers are on me.

I may even buy the steaks.

Is it okay to be a fan of BOR and OU Football at the same time? I'm originally from OK but came down to TX for school. While I'm enthralled with TX politics I still feel a connection with my OK heritage.

Byron!!!
How could you!
I say give the poor bastards of Oklahoma a football victory. That's all they have to live for in their state. Worst roads, worst education, poorest, worst dental care; at least they can be good at something. But to give them the satisfaction of having their nasty little colors (menstruation and semen) on the BOR is inexcusable. I refuse to read your blog until Thursday and I encourage every other real Texsn to boycott the BOR until the colors are back up!

btw, at least we're still winning the series. Go Horns!

Dave, maybe you would like to explain the "bastard" comment to my mother and father? *chuckle*

As to your post, Education, roads, and dental care care may be "worse" in Oklahoma than in Texas, but it is not "worst:" that distinction belongs to Mississippi & Louisiana.

Byron is gracious in defeat; you are not. "No soup for you!"

Now, I'm all for friendly wagers, but this was just a bad idea. I love the boys in burnt orange, and I pick them in office pools out of respect. But I'd never put money or anything else of value on the line while it's Coach Brown vs. Stoops.

I'm still reading this week, but I'm going to be so very, very sad.

If I'm not mistaken, the poorest county in the U.S. is actually in Kansas. Thomas Frank's book What's the Matter with Kansas? is all about how rural, poor people in this one area vote overwhelmingly Republican, against their own economic interests (just like Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma). I never stop promoting it on my blog Common Sense. It really is that good.

shouldn't the blog actually be in crimson and cream. then again, i don't why you would ever make this bet. i have to question how much you know about football when you think it would be "unimaginable" for us to lose. Of course, I shouldn't be talking since I go to Dallas year after year just to see us lose.

The bet includes colors, but they have until Monday to get it aligned.

Hey, I'm not an ogre . . . ;)

Ouch... I thought it was just my hangover. Good to see it wasn't and you guys really are changin' the color scheme.
