Texas Republican Lawmakers Honor James O'Keefe

by: Libby Shaw

Wed Jan 27, 2010 at 06:32 PM CST

James O'Keefe, a conservative activist who had posed as a pimp in order to set up ACORN has been arrested by the FBI for having attempted to commit a felony. O'Keefe and two others, wearing telephone company uniforms, were busted last night for allegedly  wiretapping the phones in Senator Mary Landrieu's New Orleans office.

Landrieu said: "This is a very unusual situation and somewhat unsettling for me and my staff. The individuals responsible have been charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purposes of committing a felony. I am as interested as everyone else about their motives and purpose, which I hope will become clear as the investigation moves forward."

Brace yourselves folks as the list of Texas Republicans who honored James O'Keefe is quite long.  My U.S. House Rep. John Culberson is on the list.  Is your representative?  See the list below the fold.

In October Pete Olson (TX-22) had introduced the resolution in honor of Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe for their diligent investigative journalism exposing faudulent and potentially illegal activities of ACORN.

Rep. Pete Olson today introduced a resolution in honor of Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III for their diligent investigative journalism exposing the fraudulent and potentially illegal activities of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN.

"Hannah and James should be applauded for their efforts to root out corruption and abuse of federal tax dollars," said Rep. Olson.  "Their actions resulted in the House and Senate taking decisive action to block tax dollars from going to an organization that has been under scrutiny for voter registration complaints, embezzlement of funds, and a disturbing tolerance for bogus tax evasion activities.  American taxpayers are already on the hook for too large a portion of their hard earned money.  The undercover investigation conducted by Hannah and James demonstrates the concern young people have with the tax burden being placed on them."

A Washington Times article today detailed facts related to $1 million in Homeland Security grant funding being awarded to ACORN instead of to the firefighter grant program in Louisiana after the House and Senate took action to cut off federal funds.

"Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III are setting an example for concerned citizens across America that we can hold those who receive taxpayer funds accountable and their actions should be commended," Olson concluded.

Hannah and James are certainly setting a shining example of what a Karl Rove, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney, Dick Armey, Michael Scanlon and Tricky Dick Nixon Republicans are made of.  That would be the dirty tricks and criminal wing of the GOP.

No wonder the teabagger Republicans are so very angry.

Sounds like a Karl Rove deal all around. Kenny Marchant? He's my congressman. Great.
