| I wish to bid you all farewell as I leave for Washington DC very, very early Tuesday morning. What an experience this will be!
As most of you already know I was selected as a Bill Archer Fellow to represent the University of Texas at Arlington during my spring 2010 semester. Words cannot describe how excited I am. This is everything that I have labored so hard for throughout my life. The UTA College of Liberal Arts did a very humbling expose in their 2009 Annual report. My profile is on page 23 and captures my goals and motivations quite well if you would like to read it.
I will be serving a dual internship as a Government Affairs and Communications specialist with the Financial Services Roundtable. This organization is run by former Dallas Mayor Steve Bartlett and has numerous UT alumni ties. The opportunities that FSR offered to me were by far the best out of the numerous interviews I did, including Homeland, the Human Rights Campaign etc. I'm pleased to say I was offered six internships in total which certainly provided me options. I'm pleased and excited with what I have chosen.
At a time when financial law and regulation is at the forefront of discussion and debate I will be on the front lines of new legislation that will effect our financial markets and economy for generations. Their is no time like the present to be involved with an organization like FSR.
In some capacity or another a great number of you within the BOR community have left a lasting and positive impact on my life. Many of you have financially supported my efforts to reach Washington DC and I am tremendously grateful for that investment. My deepest thanks to you all.
As I embark on this new journey in my life---very excited to return home on April 26th and share my experiences with you, I encourage you to continue and read Burnt Orange Report so as to keep up with my progress. I have had the privilege to write political blogs for BOR since 2007 and will continue to do so as time allows and staff permits. I plan to write about my experiences in DC as often as I can. Follow me on facebook (Todd Hill) or twitter (yohi52) as well.
Farwell! I'll be in touch.
