| We already know that Bill White can transfer most of his Senate campaign funds to a potential gubernatorial campaign. For the funds he cannot transfer, he will probably succeed in returning the donations in exchange for equal gubernatorial contributions.
But that $4.2 Million that we've seen in his federal account isn't all that's sitting around with his name on it. As Kuff pointed out, he also has a Mayoral fund. Although I'm not sure if Charles's number estimates are correct, there is still another large sum of money he should be able to transfer to a gubernatorial race.
Specifically, there exists a Specific-Purpose Committee in Houston to assist an officeholder named William White. That committee, Friends of Bill White, has hundreds of thousands of dollars in it. As of its last Campaign Finance Report, in late October, Friends of Bill White reported over $800,000 sitting in its coffers.
That would leave potential gubernatorial candidate Bill White with about a $5 Million head start should he run for the state's highest office. A nice amount raised for a Texas Democratic candidate before even filing, isn't it? |
