The Fox News War Against the White House

by: Phillip Martin, Progress Texas

Fri Oct 23, 2009 at 10:27 AM CDT

The "war" between the White House and Fox News continues. It started a while ago, and has ramped up in recent weeks. Fox News -- ever the victims -- are complaining that the White House is treating them unfairly, basically goign to the corner and saying, "nuh-uh -- YOU started it."

Now the White House reporters -- and other members of the media -- are starting to defend Fox News. The fact that other reporters are coming to Republicans / Fox News' defense has excited the GOP base more than anything since Sarah Palin.

I know reporters always got reporters' backs, and that's awesome and I respect that. But this isn't like the White House just decided to go against a channel that occassionaly gives them negative stories. And -- despite what the Fox News folks say -- the White House (and anyone with a brain) can distinguish between  the Fox "commentary" and what is portrayed w/ their news logo.

Just take a look at the facts in this simple, yet direct, video:

If anyone can show me the journalism displayed in that video, then I'll change my mind.

I absolutely agree with the White House's attempts to ignore Fox News as much as possible. I think reporters that blindly defend Fox News for this are devaluing their profession. And I think Republicans that want to make hay about this are only providing further evidence that Fox News is a 24/7 political operation.

My disgust... (3.00 / 1)
...at Fox "News" is tempered by the fact that, at peak prime time viewing, they have fewer than 3MM viewers, ratings that got Midnight-slot shows cancelled on CBS in the late 80's.

Fewer than 3MM viewers in prime time; 350MM residents of the United States.

It's a math thing; they wouldn't understand.

Bark little yippy dog, bark.

I guess my point was lost on you. (0.00 / 0)
Which is totally unsurprising.

I guess I was just defending the Administartion (0.00 / 0)
who is spending a lot of time and energy fighting with a "yippy dog".  Your point is well taken, only 3 MM viewers?  Why give them extra publicity? Why acknowledge them?

Why does MSNBC give Fox so much airtime? (0.00 / 0)
I am bored with MSNBC's nightly spotlight on Fox News, Fox on-air personalities, and their fellow travelers like Rush Limbaugh. I think it is counterproductive and only encourages these far right-wing mouthpieces and faux newspersons.  I do think Keith Olberman's and Rachel Maddow's response to the Fox direct attack on Olberman and Maddow for attending an off the record meeting with Barack Obama was appropriate.

One thing (0.00 / 0)
it has done is awakened them to the fact that they are being criticized and exposed. They are so inappropriately arrogant as if they still have all the power. What a smarmy bunch of hooligans they all are. It's really hard to get the microphone away from them when they're being paid so handsomely for holding it.

Sean Hannity reportedly signed a 5-year contract for $100 million last year for his radio work, alone.

Four more years of Hannity? Let's vote him out.

Hitler (0.00 / 0)
had a Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda when propaganda wasn't considered a bad thing.

I guess Roger Ailes created his Fox News and Ministry of Sean Hannity when Sean Hannity wasn't considered a bad thing.

Friends Push Roger Ailes for President.

"Ailes knows how to frame an issue better than anybody, and that's what we need now," says one Ailes friend who is encouraging the Fox founder, chairman and CEO to seek the Republican nomination to run against President Barack Obama.

Hitler Round II...maybe we're already in it.
