Maxey support in the Metroplex

by: John McClelland

Sat May 27, 2006 at 09:40 PM CDT

There are folks out there who want to tell you that Glen Maxey is only known in the circles of Austin politics. That Glen Maxey can't generate interest in other areas of Texas. I attended two events today that should prove some naysayers wrong.

This morning, I helped out with the North Dallas DFA group's sponsored brunch at the Carrollton Public Library that Glen attended to share his vision on being state chair. We crammed over 40 people into that meeting room, some from as far away as Denton. Many, if not all of them, were delegates to the convention. Of course you can say "well that's DFA and you know Glen's ties to that stuff". You're right. But many of those faces have never shown up at a DFA meeting in their lives.

My friend David and I then traveled to Fort Worth, as we were already planning on going there to scope out the bar Paddy Red's for our convention edition of Drinking Liberally. Glen was scheduled to speak in that area at 6pm. So after our drinks, we scooted over to the wine & cheese reception hosted at the First Jefferson Unitarian Universalist Church (say that five times fast). Their group outdid Carrollton by having over 60 people attend the speech to hear Glen. Even if you subtract the 4 of us who were there that were also in Carrollton, that is a lot of new faces that Glen got to reach out to.

So guess what people. Glen Maxey can reach out past Austin. He can reach above and beyond into "heavily Republican" North Dallas, Carrollton, and Fort Worth. Imagine what he can do to help the party in the rest of Texas. I leave this to you if you are a delegate at the upcoming convention. Do you want someone who will take the old hollowed out beat up pick up truck and just give it a nice paint job? Or do you want someone who will actually fix the truck? I prefer to fix the truck and make it one bad ass ride! And the man who will help us fix the truck and the Texas Democratic Party is Glen Maxey.

I agree 100%!!!! (0.00 / 0)
I know Glen can and will get people fired up across the state and win elections for us.  I have been doing my own polling of delegates from the different counties where I know people and he has lots of support.  Williamson county is behind him.

I always appreciate on the ground reports from any events that the TDP candidates are attending.

(Though because I was home, I apparently never got this truck mailer!?! I'll have to find a copy when I get back to Austin today to see what it's all about).

no mail for me (0.00 / 0)
Well i dont get any mailers since they left off my apt# on the original delegate list so I finally got to see it yesterday. So I really only get to read Boyd and Glen's emails.

Someone reminded me there was also 40-50 people at the Maxey speech at the downtown Dallas public library a few weeks ago.

Maxey also spoke at SD5 caucus earlier in May and had lots of support there also.
