| Tonight, at the monthly meeting of the Smith County Democratic Club in Tyler, Hank Gilbert announced his candidacy for Texas Governor.
As an attendee at the event, I must say that I was quite surprised, as I believe the rest of the crowd was as well. Having seen quite a bit of Hank over the last two weeks, everything was pointing to another run for agriculture commissioner.
The reaction to Hank's announcement here in Smith County, which is his home base, was quite enthusiastic.
As a result, the Democratic field for governor now consists of Gilbert, Tom Schieffer, Mark Thompson, and Kinky Friedman.
After a lot of talk about who would declare next for the race, we now have an answer. Who will be next? Any thoughts? |
