Rick Perry on Sarah Palin: "She's the Face of America"

by: Michael Hurta

Sun Aug 23, 2009 at 07:50 AM CDT

This weekend, the Wall Street Journal has a pretty extensive interview with Governor Perry.  It's revealing on a lot of issues and on the way he thinks.  It epitomizes why so many Far Right Republicans like him.

Obviously, most readers of this blog will simply disagree with much of the interview.  And then, though...there is this:

On that last point, he states emphatically, "I love Sarah Palin, I love her positions, I think she was a good governor. . . . I want her to be engaged in this rebuilding of the Republican Party. . . . She is substantially more the face of this country than some other people who might want to be the face of the Republican Party. To me she's the face of America. [emphasis mine] I mean she's a hard worker, she didn't come from money, she didn't come from privilege, she just worked hard. . . . I have not seen another person who invigorated the Republican base [like she did] with the possible exception of Ronald Reagan in 1976-the speech he made at the Republican Convention. People were looking around and saying, 'we nominated the wrong dude.'"

The ridiculousness of that comment speaks for itself.

Compared to Rick... (0.00 / 0)
I can see why Rick thinks she is a great governor; compared to his (Accomplishments), she was a lot better for Alaska than he has been for Texas:

Makes perfect sense ... (5.00 / 1)
Rick Perry's the male Sarah Palin.

Why is Julie Brown's song coming to mind: "I Like 'Em Big and Stupid"?

"The eyes of the people are fast opening! Fight on!"--Andrew Jackson

But...... (0.00 / 0)
but he is not really that big, is he?

I hope we can say back to him, "Adios, Mofo!"

Like "Frankenstein's Monster" (0.00 / 0)
Perry is such a central part of that ego-centric conservative nation that is doing their best to re-write American history.

From the WSJ article linked to in the main post:

And when it comes to the Obama administration, Mr. Perry doesn't mince words: "To me, this is one of the great Frankenstein experimentations in American history. We've seen that movie before. It was from 1932 to 1940." [emphasis is mine.]

And since he brought this imagery up by strategically placing President Roosevelt, President Obama and Frankenstein (in the same sentence), I have to say that I see Rick Perry as the more perfect prototype for The Monster.

Dr. Frankenstein could never have imagined anything so well, obedient. (I do have to wonder who is writing this stuff for Perry. Like so many signs of infestation, where there is one, there are likely thousands.)

It must be true, The Monsters are among us and none of us is/are safe.

Rupert Murdoch's (0.00 / 0)
business plans for the Wall Street Journal seem to be kicking in this week with this one. Oh, and this one, too.

Not to imply (0.00 / 0)
that TM is being taken over by Rupert. I'm referring to the WSJ giving KR such a platform (as being discussed on the TM blog).

Rick (5.00 / 1)
I wonder how Rick knew what Republicans were saying at their 1976 convention since back then he was at least pretending to be a Democrat.

Exactly (0.00 / 0)
But hey, when did he ever let a little revisionist history stand in his way?
