LIVE FROM DC: David T. Harris for TX 06

by: Michelle Harris

Wed Feb 08, 2006 at 09:00 AM CST

My first call of the day starts out with Green Day blasting at 5:48 AM (I forgot I had maxed out the ringer the day before)

Dave:  Sorry to wake you so early

Me:  Its okay, whats going on?

Dave:  I have no dress shirts

Me:  What?

Dave:  I have no dress shirts

Here I am thinking, and you are calling me why?  Fed-Ex can't get it to you in an hour

Me:  Dave, go to the front desk and they can help you get a cab to a store.

Dave:  Good idea...

CANDIDATES!

All is well, dress shirt located and Dave went down to the delegation breakfast.  He joins John Courage, Rick Bolanos and the other candidates to catch up with old friends and  make new connections.  They are told the event is being covered by CSPAN and that CBS and Faux news have said they will show up.  One station as far away as Japan is covering the event with Sen. Max Cleland.  They are told they each get approximately 15 seconds at the mike (I laugh here, what can you say in 15 seconds?  Time yourself).

He said that its going well and they are all having a blast.  I will be posting updates through out the day here and on our site.

Let me know if someone catches the Band of Brothers on a mainstream feed somewhere, it would be great if they got the coverage they deserve.

For fun, what would you say in your 15 seconds?  :)

UPDATE (0.00 / 0)
My second call of the day:

No one tripped and fell, great speeches, Sen. Jack Reid led the pledge...lol

At the mall, tons of people and media interviewed on NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation and BBC (our favorite channel from the Boston convention), Sen. Cleland gave a riveting speech before the candidates took the stage.

Paraphrasing Dave’s 15 seconds:

Ladies and gentleman let this serve as notice to the opposition that democrats are strong on defense

::Crowd roars::

This is living proof, we are here today not just because we are veterans but we are here to serve the constituents of our district instead of the current house reps serving the K street lobbyists

Not bad for 15 seconds, eh?

Lunch is an Italian buffet and they are all headed in to eat, more later!

UPDATE (0.00 / 0)
Third phone call from DC:

Having a great time chatting with everyone…the lecture on Podcasting goes on too long though.

On the way to appointments at the DCCC, wish me luck!

LAST UPDATE OF THE NIGHT (3.00 / 1)
They are in the main event now so this is just via text message:

Russ Feingold is here and asked for my card

Kerry and Clark come in

Edwards is on the way in

OKAY NOW I AM FREAKING OUT...LOL

Great post Michelle (0.00 / 0)
Sounds like David is having a good time and more importantly making good connections.  Matt has a picture of him with John Courage on his Just Another Matt blog

Good luck to David on this trip!
