TX-7 US Rep. Culberson Loses It on National TV. Hates socialism but loves it.

by: Libby Shaw

Sun Aug 16, 2009 at 01:19 PM CDT

My U.S. House Rep (Houston) never fails to embarrass the living daylights out of many of his constituents.  That would be those of us who are not invited to Culberson's orchestrated town hall meetings.

GOP Playbook, Chapter I:  When you don't like the question posed by a journalist or if you simply can't handle it, change the subject.

Chapter 2:  If the journalist won't let you change the subject, ties you into a pretzel and if you fall into his/her trap, attack the interviewer's network.

What happens when none of the above works?

Play dumb.

Or

Throw a tantrum.  Look like a deer caught in the headlights because you really, really believe your own fabricated spin.

Culberson fights tooth and nail to block all efforts at public transportation in Houston.  He is in total lock step with big bidness and the fat cats who own him.   That includes those who live in upscale neighborhoods who don't want rail transporting "others" to their work places anywhere near their own backyards.

Culberson had no problem with W.'s putting Iraq on the national credit card.  But he has a really big problem with insuring uninsured Texans.

Culberson said he hated full government control and yet what else could one call the war in Iraq with W.'s no bid contracts?   Where was Culberson then?   What else would one call the Patriot Act?  Culberson has not uttered a peep of protest.   What else would one call the illegal wiretapping of U.S. citizens?   Totally cool, as far Culberson is concerned.   All because W. said it was so.

Culberson said he supports UT MD Anderson Cancer Hospital and yet he said billions and billions of federal dollars of grant money is infested with waste.   Much of MD Anderson's funding comes from federal grants.   So, what does Culberson mean by waste in federal funding?  Throwing a life line to the dying and suffering patients who can't pay?  Would that include those who live outside the upscale neighborhoods where residents have a problem with a light rail running nearby?

It is simply drop dead amazing how clueless and out of touch Texas Republicans are.

When confronted with troubling questions and inconvenient realities what do Republicans do?  They react like a deer caught in the headlights of train they can no longer control.
