Williamson County Democrats Begin Candidate Recruitment Process

by: bradenframe

( - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

The Williamson County Democratic Party has begun the process of finding, vetting and recruiting candidates to run in 2010.  The first meeting of the CRC, Candidate Recruitment Committee, was held on Tuesday June 2nd at the new WCDP Headquarters in Round Rock.  Over a dozen interested and enthusiastic Democrats showed up tonight, eager to be involved in the very important candidate recruitment process.

The Williamson County Democratic Party has really come a long way.  We look to 2010 with enthusiasm and excitement.  Our job is simple...we must ensure that we have a credible and effective group of candidates on the ballot to join and support our first incumbent in over a decade.

No longer is the party begging candidates to run on the last day to file.  In fact at our first meeting nearly a dozen names were thrown around as "persons of interest"...in fact two prospective candidates even made to the meeting to show their enthusiasm.

So if your interested in running for office in Williamson County...let the Candidate Recruitment Committee know about it!

Great news Braden and the best of luck to you.

Bastop Co. (0.00 / 0)
has also begun the recruitment process, although we do have a number of Dem incumbents to support as well (Co Judge, a co commish, and all 4 JPs). Also actively working on a high-profile challenger for HD 17. We're looking to run a coordinated campaign this cycle as well, and hope to use Williamson Co. DPs work last year as a guide of sorts. Thanks for being trendsetters, guys!

I actually spoke to your County Chair...I think...a few months ago.  I had heard a story about a County Judge out there and some possible corruption with him and his office.

If you guys every want to share some notes about our 2008 coordinated and our plan for 2010 feel free to give me a call.  We managed a very minimalistic coordinated campaign last year...and we've got some big goals for 2010.

Keep up the good work!

doesn't sound right (5.00 / 1)
there is only one county judge in bastrop co. and he is way far away from "corrupt". whom ever you talked to gave you VERY bad information.

there was a county commissioner and the sheriff...but NOT Judge McDonald.

you might want to be careful throwing things around like that if you aren't 100%.

Please refer to KT's signature.

I meant a county judge, not the county judge.

My bad.

I think the story I heard and have since related to the Bastrop County Chair was about a CCAL Judge...I just said County Judge as a measure of informal speach...I didn't mean to upset you.

I usually call all the non-district judges "County Judges" and then the actual County Judge "The County Judge"...but perhaps you're right and I'll try to be more specific in the future.

Thanks KT! (0.00 / 0)
I can't say this enough...Williamson County is an amazing place to work.  There are so many great people up here who have been working so hard for over a decade...and now...finally...the demographics are changing and the time is right to win.

Our committee is really excited to take on the hard tasks that we have at hand.  But with a some hard work and a little bit of luck, we hope to run credible, funded, serious campaigns in 2010.

We're looking to reach out to every county party in SD-5, HD-20 and TX-31 to try to recruit the best possible candidate for each office.  Hopefully our coordinated efforts will reward Central Texas with a few more Democrats in office.  Within in the County we're especially focused on the County Commissioner Races (place 2/4) and some of the County Judicial Race (CCAL and Dist Judge).  The County Judge is also up for election...so we will be campaigning against two Gattis's at once!

Thanks KT and to BOR for the support from your neighbors to the north.
