Comparing the models (0.00 / 0)

I'm surprised at how far apart the two models are with only two days left to go. Was there a huge last-minute uptick in 2006 that we didn't see in 2008?

in short, yes (0.00 / 0)

Here's the different by percent by day of how much higher the 2006 mayoral turnout was in raw votes than 2008.

You'll notice that the last few days have a higher separation so the couple thousand votes that separate the models are mostly built into those final days. We'll see the most closing of any day so far after tonight's numbers come in as a result.  It's also why you saw that narrowing on the Thursday model.
