Blogger's Caucus Details Finalised

by: annatopia

(If you are at the state convention in Fort Worth, come on out! - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

Calling all bloggers and convention attendees!

Here's the details for the 2006 Texas Democratic Convention Blogger's Caucus.

After much discussion on and off the blogs, we came to the conclusion that Friday afternoon wasn't going to work.  There will be actual convention business during that time, and we don't want to pull anyone away from any caucus, event, or meeting they may want to attend.

So... here's the time and place:

The Texas Progressive Alliance presents the 1st Annual Democratic Blogger's Caucus
Friday, June 9, 9pm-midnight
Flying Saucer
111 E 4th St
Fort Worth, TX 76102 (map)

The Flying Saucer is conveniently located five blocks west of the convention site.  For those unfamiliar with downtown Fort Worth, those are real short city blocks, so it's a five minute walk from where we'll all be.

We have confirmed more attendees:

John Courage - Russ Feingold's first "Progressive Patriot" and candidate for TX-21.
Paula Hightower Pierson - Former Arlington city council member and candidate for HD-93.
David Pillow - Candidate for Kent Grusendorf's old seat in HD-94.

Previously confirmed:

David Van Os - Grassroots favorite and candidate for TX-AG.
David Harris - Iraq war veteran and candidate for TX-06.

Also, it looks like the TPA will have a table at the convention, courtesy of the Texas Progressive Council.  We're still waiting on "official" confirmation, but it's looking real good at this point.

This is shaping up to be a great event.  Official invitations to current Democratic officeholders and candidates are going out this afternoon, and I'll do a massive post sometime next week with more confirmations.

If anyone reading this post has a special connection with any of these folks, please get in touch with me.  I'm sure some of you might be able to get confirmations due to your existing connections, and with the event coming up in a few weeks I sure could use your help.

Thanks again for your participation and enthusiasm!

Yay it wont conflict with Drinking Liberally! LOL

Be sure you all check out on the recommended journal page about the DL event at Paddy Red's on Thursday night as well.

Dont know if I can make the Bloggers or not. Maybe for a little while. I have to be awake Saturday morning and/or not hung over for the Blue Star Breakfast :)

you better be there!!!

the event officially closes at midnight due to the next morning's activities.  but everyone is welcome to hang around longer if they can handle it. heh.

this blurb is going out in the next HDCC mailing:

The Texas Progressive Alliance presents the 1st Annual Democratic Bloggers Caucus
The TPA - a coalition of Texas progressive bloggers with a statewide audience of nearly half a million readers - cordially invites all Democratic officeholders and challengers to a meet-n-greet with dedicated grassroots activists and trailblazers of this new organising medium.  Join us at the Flying Saucer in downtown Fort Worth on Friday, June 9 from 9pm-midnight.  We'll get to know each other in an informal setting and raise our glasses in  anticipation of Democratic victories in November and beyond!

OK fine!! :) Like I said I will try. And also drag one of my fellow delegates and DL hosts with me.

I think I should note on here real quick that TX Kos was instrumental in forming the 1st Drinking Liberally chapter in Dallas, a week before Addison's, also one year ago this June.

But Everybody Knows... (0.00 / 0)
You don't actually ATTEND the Blue Star Breakfast.  You may buy a ticket (as a way of helping to pay for the Convention) but the overwhelming majority of attendees are not awake and/or too hung over to actually show up!

Don't forget your laptops (0.00 / 0)
So you can all live-blog the bloggers' caucus, and then sit around and read each others' blogs live-blogging the bloggers' caucus.  How else would you know what was happening at the bloggers' caucus?

Well (0.00 / 0)
We talk to each other, and the people who are there. We buy drinks for each other. We also will discuss, you know, the vast amount of (free) time work we put into our blogs. The time spent on top of the 50+ hours week working for campaigns, caucuses, and office-holders...

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

Maybe you all can have a LAN party and play Doom too :)

We'd do that (0.00 / 0)
except all the other bloggers are afraid of me putting down my plowshare and picking up my sword.  Again.

The Bloggers Caucus conflicts with the Glen Maxey for state party chair shindig. I hear free beer there.

Please read the Community Guidelines and How to Rate Comments.

Details? (0.00 / 0)
What's the word on the Maxey event? Are any of the other candidates doing something?
