I thought both candidates came across as competent, articulate and aligned on many issues.
I think Donna is be a terrific advocate for education.
But to me the job is much more than that. And Ben brings business and industrial experience that is relevant to so many other issues such as taxation, business development, technological efficiencies.
Ben is a relatively moderate Republican who brings more to the table in this particular race.

Candidates agreed on several questions (0.00 / 0)

Bentzin and Howard agreed on several of the debate questions.  One point of difference was the recapture (Robin Hood).  Bentzin is very much against it and considers a cap only a first step.  Howard on the other hand doesn't think recapture is really a problem, and it would go away as an issue if the state's share of education funding was increased sufficiently.

Another point, Bentzin explained that he used a turnkey company that also had done business with Colyandro.  That is a reasonable explanation.

Howard did not do a good job defending the reason she went forward with spending money on a program that was turned down by a public vote of 57%.

This debate tips in favor of Benztin but not by much.

There is another debate on Thursday, 8pm at the LCRA HQ on Lake Austin Blvd.
