Carole Strayhorn Skips Debates, Has a Sidewalk Press Conference

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Thu Feb 26, 2009 at 08:00 AM CST

Wow, this is absolutely crazy. MAJOR kudos to Wells Dunbar of the Austin Chronicle City Hall Hustle. You must watch this insanity which only gets more intense through the end (even after the credits).

Is Carole Strayhorn running any sort of real campaign other than poorly scripted press conferences, no field campaign, and the hopes to win an election entirely on TV ads? Hell, her campaign signup form to volunteer still doesn't work AFTER TWO MONTHS!

All the more reason to repost the ad I made back in January...

Was that presser in the morning, or after happy hour?

Bizarre Performance (0.00 / 0)
The thought that some of the Big D's thought she was a viable candidate for Governor in 2006 is a true mystery to me. Bet McCracken gets more R voters than she does on election day.

Maybe, but... (0.00 / 0)
Brewster's unwavering support of gay rights and his getting the rules on the books that prohibit Austin pharmacies from denying women birth control may cut into his support among Republicans.

But, what... (0.00 / 0)
I bet Austin has the highest percentage of pro choice Republican voters and Log Cabin Republicans in the state. Even a majority of pro life Republicans are not against practicing birth control, their against abortions.

Leffingwell will get his share of R voters. He may also pull more R votes than Strayhorn, but less than McCracken will. I do not think any candidate will overwhelming dominate with R voters, especially Strayhorn.

Winning big with D voters is where the name of the game is in Austin in at-large city council elections.

O brother (2.00 / 1)
She reminds me of Charles Durning as the governor in O Brother Where Art Thou?
