Senator Kay Hutchison and John Cornyn were not alone. Republican Representatives representing Texas in Congress also voted exactly the same as did Hutchison and Cornyn. Louie Gohmert, Ted Poe, Sam Johnson, Ralph Hall, Jeb Hensarling, Joe Barton, John Culberson, Kevin Brady, Michael McCaul, Michael Conaway, Kay Granger, Mac Thornberry, Ron Paul, Randy Neugebauer, Lamar Smith, Pete Olson, Kenny Marchant, Michael Burgess, John Carter and Pete Sessions all voted against the will of America and the will of millions of Texans.
Will Texans ever elect responsible, intelligent, smart men and women who possess basic common sense in helping hardworking Americans and Texans who face an almost 'depression' like recession to meet their basic needs for jobs, health care and education? These Senators and many of these Representatives had no problem sending hundreds of billions of Texas' taxpayer money to rebuild Iraq, or bailout greedy Wall Street CEOs with hundreds more billions to corporate financial institutions. They did not think twice about giving the wealthiest Americans and big oil companies HUGE tax cuts while average Texans had to make up the difference.
Will Texans ever elect someone to represent ALL Texans and intelligent leaders who can play nice in the sand box, learn how to compromise, give and take, and support average, hardworking, taxpaying Texans above their political agendas? Whether we are Republicans, Democrats, Independents or unaffiliated, life is about making the right choices to support our families, our children, our state and our country. Common sense should be the conscience of Texas Politicians, but that quality was long left on their playground as they chose bullying over humanity, money over common sense and politics over the will of the people. |
