| First reported by In the Pink and then picked up by PinkDome, we have an interesting report on a lawsuit filed against HD-48 Republican candidate Ben Bentzin by his former nanny.
PinkDome got a copy of the suit filed in Travis County District Court. It was dated March 15, 2005: 1:35 p.m.
But here are some of the good parts in the suit.
"Defendants take between five and seven weeks of vacation each year." ...
Count Two: Defamation. Love this one. Since the nanny was out looking for another job Joanie (Bentzin) (allegedly) told prospective employers that the nanny she employed for three years was a deadbeat. So, if you keep a deadbeat in your employ for three years which party is more of a deadbeat? The party of the first part or...Ben Bentzin.
Count Three: Boring..
Count Four: Intention Infliction of Emotional Distress. This is the one where Joan demanded the pregnant nanny power wash the home and clean their boat. ...
Count Five: Conspiracy Among the Defendants. Dum-dum-dum!
In the Pink picks up on that last point as well.
The nanny says that she routinely worked more than 40 hours per week but wasn’t compensated for overtime, to the tune of $13K. (Honey, I haven’t been compensated for a year.) Also, Joanie demanded that the nanny, while pregnant, power wash their 10,000 square foot home and clean their boat. POWER WASH their home? This alone would cause me severe emotional distress.
And don't forget that Bentzin tried to hide until the last minute some quarter of a million in donations, which generated suits from the Howard campaign and the Libertarian Party.
Does the new header button in support of Donna Howard look ok to everyone? Feel free to use the image on your own blogs, I'll be keeping it up there just through the special election. |
