Soechting endorses a republican in Hays County, encourages other democrats to follow him to hell

by: Les

Charles Soechting, under the guise of former State Democratic Chair, is circulating a letter endorsing republican  Will Conley for Hays County Commissioner Precinct #3. This is news only in that he is using his former title in the endorsement.
A strong democratic candidate, Steve Klepfer, is running against Conley and he has the chops to do a great job for Hays County. Soechting is way out of bounds on this stunt.

Klepfer is a republican who only recently saw the light when it came time to run the cycle after Democrats swept Hays County office elections.

Travis County has seen a similar shift with Republicans switching their partisan ID to run this cycle.

Soechting said specifically that he believes Klepfer to still be a Republican who opposes virtually every progressive issue "we" stand for.

I've certainly had my disagreements with Soechting (particularly over endorsements while he was state party chair), but he felt so strongly about this that he resigned as precinct chair.  That speaks volumes to many Hays County Democrats.

Please refer to KT's signature.

Was Klepfer opposed in the Democratic Primary and challenged on his "R" past? If not, why?

a Dim (former Dem) view for Chucky S (0.00 / 0)
Chucky S must be switching to the R's since he now is determining the better R if your analysis is correct. What a 180 turn? At any rate Chucky S is now even less relevant than he was before his stunt. FYI, for years in Hays County you could see normal Dems voting in the Repub primary to influence Repub campaigns. Not that it probably ever worked.

When someone runs as a Democrat you should at least take her/him at her/his word about being a Democrat until she/he fails to support the ticket. When that person gets a record then you make your decision. Chucky S is showing us his record now. Thanks Chucky S. Happy Halloween.

There must be some other reason (0.00 / 0)
Klepfer voted in the 2008 Democratic Primary and the 2004 Republican Primary.  That's it since 1992.
