How to Deal with Obama Sign Stealers

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Make your yard sign more permanent. After all, it's harder to steal the entire yard. Emailed to us from an Austin resident...

I need another sign, as mine was stolen. And, tired of having Obama signs stolen from my neighborhood, I decided to make one that can't be (easily) taken; and I spray-painted a giant 14-foot Obama logo on my front yard.

Amazing idea!  I want one, too!

I like the idea.  I'm sure they had to come up with it fast hence the spray paint.  But for a long term idea say it with plants for permanence - flowers.

I had an Obama sign stolen, and I had it replaced a few hours later, and then it was stolen.

I am just going to get more signs.

Hopefully this person doesn't have a trigger-happy HOA.

Gorgeous! (0.00 / 0)
I know you can't post the address, but I SO want to see this in person.

Very cool!

Observation.... (0.00 / 0)
As my daughter (16) quickly pointed out at my home-made logo, there is white between the red and blue in the real logo.  Damn if she wasn't right.   Watch out for coral snakes.

I like it a lot all the same.

Actually, both are correct (0.00 / 0)
The original two color version did not have a white gap between the blue and red.  If you find one of the older buttons or signs where the overall blue background has a slightly purplish tint to it, you'll note there's no gap.  I think they probably added the same time they did their visual refresh back in the spring (IIRC) to reduce eye buzz and make it work better in one color (like the More Perfect Union artwork).

Will that win the HOA's yard of the month? :)

Here in Denton County, the Obama signs are regularly being stolen from the polls. We are trying to decide if it is Republicans who don't like him, or Democrats who can't buy a sign somewhere else?

cross-post this at the Daily Kos!

Fixed! (5.00 / 1)
Just painted in the two white lines that were missing between the red and blue colors - thank you for the observation!

I got tired of shleping down to Dem. Headquarters to get a new sign every time mine was stolen.  Now I take it in every night & put it back out in the morning.  Apparently the Repugs just work at night.

Because they're chickens (0.00 / 0)
If they feel so strongly about thieving why not be proud of it and do it in the light of day?

Same Thing Happened To Me, This Is What I Did (0.00 / 0)
The same exact thing happened to me, twice.  Here's a recap of what I did...enjoy!
