Texas Round-Up

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Fri Apr 14, 2006 at 00:42 AM CDT

  • New Democrats of Texas podcast is online for your listening pleasure.  T.G. and David wrap-up the Primary Runoff, discuss Perry's upcoming Special Session, and look forward to upcoming Democratic events.

  • Central Texas students, remember to join StudentswithCourage.com in support of Congressional candidate John Courage.

  • Jim Henley, teacher, is running for Congress out in TX-7 in Harris County. More importantly, his campaign has just launched the Henley Blog.  It's great to see campaigns blogging, lead by others like Chris Bell (Gov) and Larry Stallings (HD-122).

  • Go visit Greg and give him some thanks for all his work with Borris Miles, knocking Rep. Al Edwards out of the lege. Finally. Part of me will miss his bills to ban sexy cheerleading. Hah, just kidding.

  • Want to see some ads in the battle to be a small town mayor? Fredericksburg has a heated race for Mayor (first time in about 20 years) and it pits an incumbent running for re-election to one last term (term limits), Tim Crenwelge, and newcomer to the political scene Jeryl Hoover.  As the city population grows with new voters, the ability for the traditional German voting class to determine local elections is diminishing, though at which point that becomes less than 50% of the vote is still unknown. Low turnout (less than 15% on average) plays a key role.

Um, yes... (5.00 / 1)
And you just posted the numbers. The first set of numbers are the early vote, the second set is the total vote.

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

Dang, I couldn't believe my eyes that Mr. Edwards had been retired. Thank you Jesus.

I know Jeryl and Ruthann from many years ago. I knew her from church growing up and did theater with him at West Texas State back in the 70s.

I post on these small stories in Texas and I'm amazed that usually someone in the readership has a connection or lives nearby.

I had a sit down with Jim Henley and one of the things that completely turns me off is that he's actively supporting Kinky, ugh.

Henley Actively Supports Chris Bell, The Next Governor of Texas (4.60 / 5)
Hi Jess, Please do not confuse admiration for "active support". I am a life long Democrat, check my voting record!!! I actively support Chris Bell for Governor and have recently invited him to speak at our campaign HQ opening April 30. Kinky is not invited! Chris is our neighbor here in Houston and everyone on our staff and all our volunteers are looking forward to working hand in hand with Chris Bell's Campaign. Jim Henley Democratic Nominee CD-7 TX.
