Hutchison on Palin: "I don't know too much about her"

by: Michael Hurta

Fri Aug 29, 2008 at 00:01 PM CDT

I just laughed when I saw this.

You can read the CNN interview.

Mainly, what does it say about a female politician if the most prominent woman in your party does not know too much about her?  Food for thought, certainly.  Discuss.

Thanks Michael (3.00 / 1)
Glad to see this put up top from the other thread. Yeah, when you have our own Senator, a woman, not sure about the VP pick, you've got some trouble!

Don't forget Palin wasn't sure of herself for national office either. This was only a few weeks ago.

Just a thought (0.00 / 0)
I would argue that the majority of people didn't know too much about Obama when he decided to run, including Bill Clinton, the most prominent man in our party.

I think Palin was a good pick for McCain. Republicans finally have an interesting candidate on their ticket, someone who may be able to do something McCain has not been able to do, energize Republicans. Republicans also have the chance to define who she is leading up to the convention. I expect to see more pics of that automatic weapon in her hands over the next few months, which imo is a pretty sweet pic.

That'll help with her foreign policy image, I'm sure. n/t (3.00 / 1)

I thought my sarcasm was obvious. ;-)

Excitement will be tough (3.00 / 1)
to drum up when there are already corruption issues surfacing about Palin.  Hardcore conservatives like Buchanan, Scarborough and Peggy Noonan were aghast as this possibility this morning.  They said she could never survive in a debate with Joe Biden since Palin has zip foreign policy experience.  They were also worried about the scandals in Alaska.

It's just (3.00 / 1)
Obama started with almost 2 years left to introduce himself to Americans.  Palin has little more than 2 months.

My favorite comment from a co-worker today (can't take credit for it) - Can you imagine what Romney, Pawlenty, Ridge and Huckabee are thinking - "We got passed over for her?"

Palin Pick Leaves Bruised Feelings (3.00 / 2)
By Anne E. Kornblut
DENVER -- Though it was high in shock value, the Palin pick left bruised feelings among the short-list contenders who were not picked -- and infuriated some Republican officials who privately said McCain had gone out on a limb, unnecessarily, without laying the groundwork for such an unknown. Two senior Republican officials close to Mitt Romney and Tim
Pawlenty said they had both been rudely strung along and now "feel manipulated."

Okay folks (3.00 / 1)
"Palin is arguing that her ex-brother in law [the trooper] was physically abusive to her sister and her sister's children. I do not want to be the political operation arguing on behalf of a wife beater."

"Tim Kaine, who has exactly the same experience as Palin, was treated by the Media and the Dems as a serious and acceptable potential pick, it opens up charges of a double standard."

Big Tent Democrat at Talkleft wrote both.

She beat her parties governor and the Democratic ex governor to win this post. To beat her parties governor she had to work against her parties wishes. You might say she played the Clinton role in Alaska's Republican primary and won. Every level she's approached has seen her opponents under estimate her. Laugh at her all you want, or laugh at McCain, you may be crying soon.

G. Ferraro had nothing but compliments to say about her. H.Clinton sent along her best wishes. Her popularity numbers rivals former Governor Mark Warner, the keynote speaker on Tuesday night. I had thought that the Mondale pick was a gimmick 24 years ago. It seems that many here may have that very same opinion today, 2008. How telling is that? I guess we haven't come a long way????
