DNCC Responds to McCain/Gramm Tax Pan

by: Matt Glazer

Tue Aug 19, 2008 at 11:26 AM CDT

The DNCC has release a new video responding to the McCain/Gramm tax plan.

This is a year were there are stark differences between the two candidates.  One thinks the recession is mental.  The other things you are mental if you don't realize how bad our economy has gotten under George Bush and John McCain.

One candidate is working to make the tax structure fair.  McCain wants to make a tax system that helps him and his donors more than average Americans.

McCain wants to drill our way to oil independence.  Obama wants to create a new green economy with multiple solutions to one global problem.

Unless you have $5,000,000 or think the recession is all in our heads, it's time for something different.  The McCain/Gramm tax plan, isn't right for the millions of people who need help from our government.

McCain v. Obama (0.00 / 0)
McCain calls those who are rich those who earn over $5M (Five Million Dollars), HObama considers those rich who earn over $50,000 (Fifty Thousand Dollars).  That's change I can believe in.

fact check (0.00 / 0)
Barack called $150k rich (that's one hundred and fifty thousand dollars). McBush apparently believes earning a million does not qualify as rich... I guess that's true relative to him and his cronies.

That said, the production value of the DNCC video is disappointing.

What a ridiculous ad. McCain said right after that that people would take this out of context....of course, that context being a joke.

Then it posts the question "and what about the rest of us?" and goes to a clip of Phil Gramm. Last I heard, Phil Gramm wasn't with the McCain camp anymore. I guess the RNC should start running ads with quotes out of context from Obama and then immediately play clips from Jeremiah Wright screaming GD America.

Not to mention, what's wrong with the rich saving lots of money through McCain's plan? The McCains will save $370,000, good for them.

Because it's nothing to joke about... (3.00 / 1)
The cost of gasoline, food, utilities, insurance, college tuition and just about everything else has skyrocketed.  Meanwhile, unemployment is up and wages are stagnant.

Middle Americans are getting squeezed and thus they're getting angry. It's nothing to joke about to them.  And that's why McCain's out of touch.

Oh, and Gramm re-emerged with McCain the other day.  If you weren't trolling around liberal blogs on McCain's behalf, you'd know that.

"Middle Americans are getting squeezed and thus they're getting angry."

That's an interesting thing to mention. Middle Americans are getting squeezed by energy prices and Obama's solution is to tell them to inflate their tires. Talk about out of touch. Although even he and Pelosi are beginning to see Americans anger about oil prices and are shifting their positions on off-shore drilling.

"It's nothing to joke about to them."

McCain wasn't joking about any of the things you mentioned. He made a joke about at what point someone crosses the point of going from middle class to rich. It was funny and very clear he wasn't serious so people laughed. Lighten up.

"If you weren't trolling around liberal blogs on McCain's behalf"

I really had no interest in voting for McCain(I like Ron Paul), but then I saw him Saturday and was impressed. He's not the monster so many on the left have painted him as. Even if you don't agree with his positions, they certainly seemed heartfelt and well thought out.

You got an answer to my other question "Not to mention, what's wrong with the rich saving lots of money through McCain's plan?"

Sure... (0.00 / 0)
Below is Obama's energy plan.  I see a lot of specifics and nothing about inflating tires.  Try again.

As for the joke, you might want to check with some folks who are hurtng economically and see what they think about it.  You might get a surprise.

As for the rich saving money, I don't have a problem with it -- as long as it's not a classic Phil Gramm plan that's at the expense of everyone else.
