Richie: 2010 State Democratic Convention Will Be in Corpus Christi

During his testimony in front of the TDP Primary/Caucus Committee this morning, Boyd Richie was asked about contracts and how far in advance the party is required to book convention venues.

He mentioned that the Texas Democratic Party already has booked Corpus Christi for 2010.

Congratulations to Corpus Christi on being selected. It seems like the conventions usually go to the larger cities (Houston, Ft Worth, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, etc) but I think this is a smart move.

I would love to see a state convention in the Rio Grande Valley but that would be a daunting trip for many Democrats across the state. I think a convention in Corpus Christi will be great.

Fundraising... (2.50 / 2)

Perhaps we should start fundraising for those delegates that will be traveling from places as far away as Amarillo and El Paso, especially considering that we have no idea how much it will cost to travel in two years.

Although, I do like the idea of having the convention in a smaller city, and giving southern Texas a chance to host and be more involved in the Democratic Party.
