The Quorum Report informs that Representative G.E. "Buddy" West, R-Odessa, has passed away.
His authored legislation that passed in his last legislative session includes a bill to create a student center at UT at the Permian Basin, and a bill to increase the prohibitions on dog cruelty. (HB 1157 and HB 1411, respectively)
Although we may disagree with much of his politics (It was Tom Craddick who announced his death), he spent 16 years in the Texas House doing what he thought best to make Texas better. May he rest in peace.
