Good year to be a Democrat (0.00 / 0)
The Republicans have done a remarkable job in screwing up both the economy and creating one of the worst forgein policy disasters in our country's history.  Even lifelong Republicans are recognizing the lasting damage that George Bush and John McCain have done to our country.

This video below is entitled, "Why I vote Republican."  It's hilarious because it's true.

It's a Democratic year, but we can't take it for granted.  Take the Kirk Watson Challenge and help us fund the biggest coordinated effort in Travis County history.  We've got a huge office to house our growing grassroots army, but it's gonna cost some money to keep this thing air conditioned.

Click here to donate: Take the Kirk Watson Challenge!

With some hard work and sufficient resources, we can turn Travis County 100% blue and increase our county-wide Democratic net gain to help elect Rick Noriega and Barack Obama.  Remember that Ann Richards won statewide in 1990 because Travis County turnout was through the roof.  So let's get to work and turn Texas blue in 2008!

I am excited because Travis County (0.00 / 0)
will also be helping turn Texas Blue!!!

"Turn Texas Blue" is a project of the Travis County Democratic Party. Our goal is to leverage the grassroots energy in Travis County and other areas across Texas to support good Democrats in contested elections.

This is form the new facebook group started by Travis County.

Hooray!!! Noriega opposes Mercs, Privatization of War (0.00 / 0)
Y'all heard it here first.

Just got back from this event, and Rick is the Man to Send To Washington to End The War.

Memorable quote from speech: "this isn't about the McCain family, or the Obama family or the Clinton family -- this is about the families of the men and women who need to come home now. And we need to come together to Bring Them Home!"

Big cheers from the Hall.

Afterwards, I just had to shake his hand.

I said I was reading Jeremy Scahill's book on Blackwater (which came out in paperback last week, available at Book People, BTW, and much discussed on Democracynow.org).

He was familiar with the book, and said "I'm sure that is very revealing..." and then volunteered that the use of Mercs is a terrible mistake. He cited the Roman Empire's  use Mercs in their decline.  He said they "when we use Mercs, we have no skin in it, we're putting it all on debt that will be passed on to our children and grandchildren."

When Amy Goodman cornered Obama at a similar event, he said that we might need to continue to use contractors.

We NEED to send Rick Noriega to Congress!!!  Please!

He is the man that understands this issue.
