Meet the Man Who's Taking on Craddick - TODAY!

by: Matt Glazer

Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 11:07 AM CDT

Bill Dingus is in town today at the historic Scholz Beer Garten, and this is a chance to talk to the man with the guts to take on Tom Craddick.

$20 Donation Suggested

Bill Dingus is running for State Representative against Tom Craddick in House District 82.

Come have a cold drink with Dingus, who not only has the courage to stand up to Craddick but also a real commitment to bringing change to the Capitol.

Contributions are not required, but I am sure all donations will be deeply appreciated.

If you can't come by, please visit Bill's web site: www.billdingus.com

This race typifies why we need Democrats up and down the ballot. With Dingus in the race Craddick is required to filed TEC reports, spend time and the district, and answer to the press.  In addition, Dingus is a former elected and stellar candidate.  This is a year for change, and maybe the stars will align perfectly and Dingus becomes the first Democrat to represent HD-82 in over three decades.

Come by, talk change, and join us in meeting one of the most courageous candidates for the Texas House.

Didn't a federal judge rule Dingus ineligible? How is he still running? (0.00 / 0)

Dingus Still Eligible (0.00 / 0)
Contrary to erroneous media reports and a Republican Party press release, the federal judge did not rule Dingus inelgible.  In fact, Bill remains on the ballot.

Republican Party lawyers -- on Tom Craddick's behalf -- are working hard to deny the voters in District 82 a choice in November.  However, so far their legal maneuvers have failed.

Soon, all of this will be hashed out in state district court, and we've very hopeful that Bill will prevail.

Bill Dingus...he website is laughable, his non existent campaign contributions are hilarious, he's "experience" is funny (in the Concilman non-existent way)...

Can't the TDP or the DNC produce a candidate whose qualification for running for office is something MORE than simply "being a democrat"...that would be a refreshing change from the Bill Dingus' of the world and the Obamas...

Too much to ask for I suppose.

So Katy, you signed up Wednesday, shortly after this event was posted on Burnt Orange.  Today, your first post, exhiting some interestig grammar, attacks Bill Dingus.  Hmmm.

Anyway, here's Bill's bio, taken straight from the web site you say you visited, as well as list of rather unfunny City Council accomplishments.  Happy Trolling!

About Bill
A native West Texan and a Midland resident for 20 years, Bill Dingus is committed to making a difference in our community.

Born in 1959, Bill earned a B.A. from Rice University and an M.A. in Geology from the University of Texas. He is president of Dingus Investments Inc., a small oil and gas investment firm. Bill and his wife, Mary Anne, married in 1990, and today they have three children: Lizby, 15, Paul, 13, and Mariah, 11. The family attends Saint Nicholas Episcopal Church.

Bill is active in a wide range of causes, including the United Way of Midland, Boys and Girls Club of Midland, Trinity School of Midland, Midland Teen Court, Leadership Midland, Casa de Amigos, Keep Midland Beautiful, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and Midland ISD.

In 2000, Bill was elected to an at large seat on the Midland City Council. Over his three terms on the council, he has become known as a leader who relies on his common sense to find solutions that benefit the whole community.

If we elect Bill Dingus as our State Representative, we can count on him to again stand up for what's right and use his common sense to find practical solutions.

Midland City Council Accomplishments:
• Spearheaded efforts to secure the city's long-term water supplies by introducing a conservation program and better management of users located outside the city limits.
• Led the effort to create a bus system at almost no cost to the city.
• Increased litter pick-up efforts, and the city's "litter index" scores have plummeted
• Increased funding for trash recycling
