at large elections (0.00 / 0)

This argues for a change in how we elect at-large seats, as I think Galindo and Cravey were the two strongest candidates for all seats, combined.

When we have 3 seats coming up, why not just have one big election, allow people to choose up to 3, and take the 3 highest vote-getters? The election software can handle it; the city code ought to be a simple rewrite.

it used to be that way (3.00 / 1)

that's how it used to be until the early 1950s when the business community decided they didn't want to risk having a minority candidate elected by the minority community.  They switched to at-large places and later added the sixth seat and the "gentleman's agreement" to allow for minority candidates properly vetted by the white establishment.  It was a charter change, not city code.

btw, for kath25 the next open seat is place 5 next year which Brewster will assuredly vacate in order to run for Mayor.  Place 1 may also open up if Leffingwell also runs.
