A Message from Robin Cravey

I'm really curious what announcements may be coming...

The voters have spoken, and Cid Galindo and Laura Morrison will now go into a runoff. I congratulate them on their success and wish them both the best. I salute Jennifer Gale, Sam Osemene, and Ken Vasseau for their campaigns.

I'm deeply grateful for all the loyal friends and the many new friends who joined my campaign, and to the citizens who responded so warmly. It's been a blast!

My family and my staff and I will be taking some well-earned rest, but I may have an announcement or two in the coming week.

Thanks.
-Robin

Robin continues to impress. I doubt this is the last we've heard of him.

Robin doesn't fall for Morrison's words and instead judges her record - she's been against every effort to increase density, and presided over the McMansion task force which actually reduces secondary dwelling units (the only true affordable housing left in the center-city if you were to manage to stop multi-family development).

The inevitable result of those policies is more sprawl; more car traffic (less bike/ped/transit traffic); more pollution; and less affordability.

She's not the progressive candidate - she's the reactionary (which is why folks like Jim Skaggs supported her).

it's an announcement of his candidacy for place 5 next year!

That might just happen (0.00 / 0)
It takes a lot of candidates two shots to win a race.  More candidates get into elected office on their second try.

Either way though, Robin ran an honorable race and he will continue to be involved with the Austin community and in politics.

I'm glad he ran.

A Good Show (0.00 / 0)
My early thinking on this race was that no candidate would have the opportunity to capture the support of the traditional central city coalition that has prevailed in recent elections.  The precinct results reported in today's Statesman seem to bear that out.

In retrospect, I think that Robin could have captured the central city coalition and been the favorite in this race if he had presented himself last fall as the representative of the Austin of yesterday, today, and tomorrow as he did this spring.

My Congrats to Robin for his solid showing in this election and best wishes for the future.
