Stimulate the Economy - Give your Tax Rebate to a Democratic Candidate

by: Eric Roberson

Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 11:08 AM CDT

Today the U.S. Treasury starts mailing out tax rebates to stimulate the economy.  see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/tax...

For many families and taxpayers, this raises an important question - "What to do with this Check."

May I suggest one way might be to donate part of it to a Democratic Candidate, your local Democratic Party, or to a worthy charity of your choice.

As a Democratic Candidate for Congress in the 32nd District, one of the Texas Districts with the strongest chance of turning blue this Fall, I can think of no better way to stimulate the economy than increasing the Democratic majority in Congress and returning fiscal sanity to Washington.

I wish I could claim authorship for this idea, but it was brought to me by another.  I had an interesting discussion in Church yesterday when one of the members of the Sunday School class I have taught for the last decade informed me that their family, which would ordinarily not be able to make a large gift to a campaign, had decided to give my campaign a large portion of their refund check.  (This is more evidence that God moves in mysterious ways as I have refused to use my leadership position to solicit funds from the many Church members I have taught, yet have received thousands in donations from them anyway).

Please consider using some of your rebate to stimulate the economy by supporting your Democratic candidates or party organizations with a donation (and/or by giving to your favorite charity).

Most Democratic candidates in Texas have a donation page at http://www.ActBlue.com.
