Report from Burnt Orange Report's 5th Birthday Bash

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 07:42 PM CDT

Wow, what a night Thursday was! I had a real blast seeing so many people turnout for Burnt Orange Report's 5th Birthday Bash at Scholz's- and what a great place to have it. For me personally, it's been my progressive home since coming to Austin in 2003.

Over 100 people were there to enjoy great company, food and beer, and some fantastic music by Rep. Dunnam and the Bad Precedents. TDP Chairman Boyd Richie came out, former Speaker Pete Laney, candidates former and current (Dan Grant, Robin Cravey, Brian Thompson, John Lipscombe among others), consultants, bloggers (it was Texas Kaos's 2nd birthday too!), readers, and friends of the blog. Byron LaMasters who founded BOR was in down and at the event so we had all 3 past and former editors of the blog there.

Also, you couldn't go to far in any direction without running into someone with those cool green Robin Cravey buttons. They literally seemed to appear everywhere out of nowhere.

The big news of the night of course was the announcement by TexBlog PAC of its first general election endorsement- Democrat Diana Maldonado. Check out this post for more information.

Here are some pictures of TexBlog PAC board members and area bloggers with Diana Maldonado, as well as TexBlog PAC board member Vince Leibowitz handing over the $5,000 check from the PAC to her campaign.

Great pictures.  Thanks.

Plus a wonderful contribution to Diana!

you guys (3.00 / 1)
couldn't afford a giant novelty check?  :)

In Fact (3.00 / 1)
We gave out a check with puppies on it.  No kidding... that is the high class, low cost operation we are running here.
