Last night, Thursday, April 03, the Capital City Young Democrats (CCYD) held its endorsement election for the upcoming Austin municipal election on May 10, 2008.

CCYD endorsed the following candidates:

Austin Community College Board of Trustees, Place 1
Tim Mahoney

Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees, District 3
Jerry Garcia

Austin City Council, Place 1
Lee Leffingwell

Austin City Council, Place 3
Jennifer Kim

Austin City Council, Place 4
Robin Cravey

Early voting in the municipal election will take place Monday, April 28, through Tuesday, May 06.

CCYD meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM.  Membership is open to anyone 40 years old or younger.

I was at the transportation forum, so I wasn't able to make this one.  Were there any interesting questions asked or responses received during q/a?

It's good to see Robin get a club endorsement.  He's too good of a candidate to get shut out.

CCYD participated in the forum at Gardner-Betts along with SAD, CAAAD, CAPD, and TED.  As with the March primary endorsements, CCYD has chosen to hold their endorsement elections at the regular meeting immediately following candidate forums.

Why anyone would endorse Jennifer Kim (unless they've never met her), I don't know...Randi Shade is the one there...

Two South Austin candidates endorsed (0.00 / 0)
Hopefully some members of the Capital City Young Democrats, that also live in South Austin, will join the South Austin Democrats. Then maybe the South Austin Democrats could actually support atleast on candidate from South Austin in the next City Council elections in 2009. SAD's current party line (endorsements) would result in no council members from South Austin serving on the city council when the new and re-elected members are sworn in during June of 2008.
