Dale Henry: I Need Your Help Now More Than Ever

by: dalehenry2008

Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 02:24 PM CDT

Today marked the start of early voting in the April 8 Democratic Primary runoff across this great state. I know many of my supporters--like me--went to their early voting locations this morning and have already voted in this race.

The runoff on April 8 is a very important election. It will determine whether or not Texas Democrats have someone on the ballot in November who has a real chance of defeating incumbent Republican Michael L. Williams.

I know I can defeat Michael L. Williams in November. I'm the most experienced candidate in the race and will run a campaign that holds the incumbent accountable for his failures. However, to do so, I must first win the runoff.

The climate is right to put a Democrat on the Texas Railroad Commission. The Commission's abject failure to safeguard Texans from dangerous underground pipelines to polluted underground is well documented and, at long last, the media is paying attention to the Commission's failures--and this Democrat's ability to win this seat in November.

This morning, the Dallas Morning News and Austin American-Statesman added their voices to the overwhelming chorus of support for my candidacy that includes State Reps. Garnet Coleman, Mike Villarreal, the Harris County Democrats, the San Antonio Stonewall Democrats, the Houston GLBT Political Caucus, Burnt Orange Report, and a variety of other Democratic organizations, blogs, and leaders.

In order to win this runoff and take down Michael L. Williams in November, I need your help. There are three things you can do which will be very helpful to my campaign:

1.) Vote. First and foremost, make sure you and your friends and family vote in the runoff.

2.) Make GOTV phone calls. Using the wonderful tools at True Blue Action, you can make phone calls for the campaign from your own home. We especially need calls made to Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, El Paso, Denton, Collin, Montgomery, Galveson, Hidalgo, Bexar and Travis Counties. You can read more about how to make those calls here.

3.) Make a contribution. Via Act Blue, you can make a contribution to my campaign today. We need every dollar we can to extend our radio buy across Texas.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide--and for the help you have provided already.

I have seen first-hand in my campaign how much help the progressive netroots can be when it comes to getting out our message. Yesterday, I caught up on some blog reading I'd missed out on the last two weeks while I was on the campaign trail and was excited and humbled to see all the positive words about our campaign on the blogs and in comments. Thanks for your support.

Try another medium to reach your voters (0.00 / 0)
Mr. Henry- 3 out of 4 undecided voters are newspaper readers. Political consultants estimate 10-15% of the electorate up for grabs but we know from studies it is much larger due to the voters that are not classified as undecided but are uncertain of their vote. These are the people that you need to reach in this last week. I have a very cost-efficient program for you to consider in the 5 major TX markets.  Please let me know how we can reach you in order to make this offer to your media consultant ASAP to get your story out to millions of readers in this last week.

They already have.... (0.00 / 0)
...newspaper advertising for a statewide race is usually very expensive and not necessarily worthwhile (I say that as a former newspaperman). TV and radio (and the web) is where it is at).

I'm really sorry I missed that (0.00 / 0)
I was volunteering at the check-in for alternates, so I missed most of the speeches.

Voting Tomorrow in Dallas County (0.00 / 0)
I'm voting for Eric Roberson, Dale Henry, Gracie Lewis, and Diana Lackey.

Yes (0.00 / 0)

Henry has my vote, again.

Goliad Uranium Mine (0.00 / 0)
Sunday's Austin American Statesman had an article on a proposed uranium mine in Goliad County and concerns about how the propecting wells for the proposed mine were already contaminating groundwater wells.  This type of surface mine is regulated by the Railroad Commission.  And, this story is a great example for why we need Dale Henry on the RRC.

Exactly, Dale will be watching out for us and our water. (0.00 / 0)
Not the uranium mine owners, who are just concerned with making money and moving on.
