OMG (0.00 / 0)
Did you just see that 3 point shot from Texas with 32 sec left???  The ball rolling all around the floor, getting picked up, blocked, and then just falls in our hands for a 3.

OK, OT (0.00 / 0)
I'll just talk to myself. Was holding my breath there, but happy it went to OT.

Ugh (0.00 / 0)
Well, as a buddy of mine put it, we can't win EVERY championship.

huh (0.00 / 0)
Why not? I mean, is 3 in one year tooo much to ask?

LSUuuuuu (0.00 / 0)
LSU is my new favorite left in the tourney right now. And no its not because they just beat UT. Theyre hot right now and might take it all.

3 Championships? (0.00 / 0)
KT, you must not be paying attention. we've won FOUR national championships with the past year: Football, Baseball, Women's Track and Field Outdoor, Women's Track and Field Indoor.

Then again, those last two are women's sports so they don't really count ;-)

(I keed. I keed.)

you see (0.00 / 0)
You've shown how much attention I really pay to sport beyond what my friends tell me.  Maybe they meant national titles? I don't know what counts or not in any of the categories with some sports being more 'major' than the other.

Props to the women. Sadly I think much of the audience for woman's volleyball is straight males for some reason...

NCAA divisions (0.00 / 0)
Well if theyre NCAA titles then theyre a national title basically. And you have titles in Div I, I-AA, II, and III depending on school size.

Tough loss... (0.00 / 0)
I'm finally able to talk about the UT game. It's just an extraordinarily disappointing way to go out -- shooting so terribly from the floor like that. Texas has never run a great offense (not Barnes' strength), but Barnes didn't miss all those open shots and turn the ball over so much in overtime.

I've realized, though - after a few hours of reflecting - that I can't be mad at our basketball team. Not after the four years I've enjoyed here.

My freshmen year, I was in the O-Zone for the UT-OU game -- the one that turned the program around. OU was #2 in the country, and I think we were #5. OU had beaten us 8 straight times, it was a Big Monday game, Dick Vitale was coming...I really can't explain how huge it was. And we won - we broke the OU curse and stormed the court. I saved every article after that win, and everyone has said that was the biggest win in the history of UT basketball - the one that turned the program around. And I got to be a part of it.

Later that year, I saw Texas win their Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games in San Antonio, watching T.J. Ford carry the team into the Final Four. I've been to dozens of games the last four years, including almost every home game this season. Making it to the Elite Eight is a great accomplishment, and I have no reason to complain.

Hopefully, Aldridge will come back next year and bulk up - his lack of strength kept him from playing any kind of offense today against the bigger, more aggressive LSU team. With Aldridge, Gibson, Tucker, Abrams, and Williams all returning - not to mention our awesome new recruits for next year - I know we'll be back making noise in the tourney next year.

In the mean time, thanks for four great years, guys! Hook 'em!

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

I see your Hook 'em... (0.00 / 0)
...and raise you a Gig 'em.  It's so nice to have an Aggie Basketball team that doesn't stink out loud.  And, sure, UT had the better season, start to finish - UT had a much stronger schedule, and UT dominated A&M in Austin in early February.

But in the last month, A&M and UT split two very close games, and were both eliminated from the NCAA's by LSU, also in close games.  I'd have to say that A&M and UT both looked better against LSU than Duke did.

Neither squad should have substantial losses for next season.  Both are recruiting like crazy.  Should be fun.

As an Aggie, I thought we had a trip to the Sweet 16 as the clock ran down.  It didn't look like LSU was going to get a good look and they were too far away from the basket and the clock was under 5 seconds.

Then LSU hit the shot.  A major bummer.
Oh well -- there's always next year.
It has been fun actually having a good Aggie team this year, and I think we have a very promising future with coach Gillespie.

Anyway, congratulations to your 'Horns making the Elite Eight

Coach Barnes's D (0.00 / 0)
As much as I love coach Barnes, I feel there was a breakdown in D.  I am not sure if Coach Barnes was the cause or if it was players tuning him out, but I feel like we did not sit deep enough in our zone.  They ate us up by penetrating against our zone.  We overextended our defense and did not force them to shoot 3s which was their achilles heel.  But, we definitely were in the game despite playing poorly against a team who played at or near their best.  Great season alltogether.

Who to root for now? (0.00 / 0)
Well now that Texas is out...

All i have to say is...

GO GEORGE MASON!!!

just cuz it would be funny.

Mason's Going Out (0.00 / 0)
I agree it would be funny..but there's no way they can make it past UCONN.

The Texas came was incredibly upsetting..as was the Baylor womens loss last night to Maryland.

Come on Texans!

Conservative Yet Pragmatic

To all of you who cheered on George Mason... (0.00 / 0)
Just letting you know them beating UConn made me lose my bracket! :)

Go GMU (0.00 / 0)
I was very lucky to see the George Mason game live in DC.  As much as I love Texas, I would have felt really torn not rootign for a team like GMU if they had to play the Longhorns
