Mindy Montford:Republican Trojan Horse

by: capitoleye

Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 08:38 PM CST

I was disturbed to see Mindy Montford had such strong support in BOR's online DA poll, because she is a stalking horse for the Republicans and the Capitol business lobby. I have been told by a number of lobbyists that her dad, ATT head lobbyist John Montford, is putting the squeeze on the business lobby to support her. How is she going to investigate political corruption at the Capitol if she is the candidate of the lobby, big business, and Craddick's friends Mike Toomey and Bill Messer?

Not only does she have obvious conflicts of interest, but she doesn't have the experience, knowledge or toughness to be the DA or to defend the Public Integrity Unit from the Legislature.  Let's hope $250,00 in special interest funded TV ads for Mindy don't fool Travis County's Democrats.

Mindy is a lifelong Democrat (0.00 / 0)

She received the endorsement of the AFL-CIO.  Do they usually endorse "Republican Trojan Horses?"

Here's what the AFL-CIO had to say.

"It's clear Montford's energy, experience and expertise as an assistant district attorney in several areas, especially that of the Public Integrity Unit, will make her an excellent district attorney and will move this county forward in the right direction."

That Mindy Is A Democrat is Beside the Point (0.00 / 0)
The AFL-CIO is backing Mindy because of politics and the Communications Workers of American (meaning ATT and Daddy Montford). The AFL-CIO has no idea if she would be a good DA or where Mindy is getting her campaign money. Nor are they thinking about the Public Integrity Unit's future. This office is too important for politics and endorsements as usually.

Watch Mindy's 30 day and 8 day campaign reports and see all the special interest, lobby money she is getting. They think she would be good for them. You cant serve two masters: you cant be friendly to the special interests and be a strong public corruption prosecutor.

She is a Democrat, and a nice person, but that doesn't make her qualified to head the DA's office and the crucial Public Integrity Unit. I know her professionally. She isnt ready for the Travis County DA job, is too friendly with special interests, and has too many conflicts of interests with TRMPAC, TAB and lobby operatives. Let her run for something else less important and more political.

Let her run (0.00 / 0)
for what ever she wants. Let the voters decide. This can and has been said about all candidates. Especially Obama. Now is not the time. He is not ready. We are not ready. He should run for this or that. Well the voters are deciding
and will continue to do so. Carpe Diem. That what I would say to all candidates.
