Gammage To Endorse Scotty McClellan's Mom?

by: Sean-Paul Kelley

Sat Mar 18, 2006 at 10:47 PM CST

This just in from a friend:

Rumors abounded throughout the weekend, chief among them being that former candidate for Governor Bob Gammage was about to endorse Carol Keeton Rylander for Governor.  Seeking confirmation, one of Gammage's few former supporters on the SDEC called to confirm or get a denial from the defeated candidate and when the conversation was over, Gammage would not deny that he would endorse Strayhorn.

Looks like Greg Wythe has been the recipient of the same news.

If this is the case Gammage is a loyal democrat indeed.

I got this from Whitmarsh last night... (0.00 / 0)
and heard from someone that there wasn't even a rumor. I guess Carl got it from someone unreliable.

I DID hear something interesting about Friday night though... apparently about 10 minutes before a scheduled appearance in Tarrant County at a fundraiser, Bell called to cancel and said it was his kids birthday.

It wasn't until last night that the real reason was to campaign for Richie at the SDEC meeting.

Why are we even worrying about this crap? Can we move on and start working on Perry, Kinky and Strayhorn? At the very least, try and help out the down ballot candidates rather than cast aspersions about a guy who isn't even in the race any longer? Bob's pretty well focused on helping Radnofsky. I wish our candidate would do the same.

One last thing... if Chris had wanted the endorsement so badly, all he had to do was pick up his phone election night.  Bob tried to call three times.

All these little hints (0.00 / 0)
"One last thing... if Chris had wanted the endorsement so badly, all he had to do was pick up his phone election night.  Bob tried to call three times."

Did you read this as you wrote this? Why would anyone want someone so petty and so vindictive as governor?

Since you mentioned the Tarrant County YD Fundraiser (3.00 / 1)
The Tarrant County YD's did a bang-up job with the fund raiser Friday night. Jim Hightower was at his best.  The room was full of YD's from Tarrant, Dallas, Parker, and probably Denton and Collin counties.  Local candidates and three state wide candidates were in attendence. Ben Z. Grant, Fred Head, and Hank Gilbert were all on the host committee and enjoyed the meeting enormously. I know because I sat with them and have spoken with them since they returned home.

From all angles, it appears to me that this event was a success. The YD's made a considerable amount of money, turn-out was good; the speaker was great; Three of the state-wide candidates were present to meet local folks; YD's from several counties were present; Activists and club members from most of the Democratic Clubs in the area were present. (MidCities Democrats and Metroplex Democrats were both host committee members).  Both Art Brender and Doreen Geiger were host members and were present and contributing toward the success of the evening.  The food was good. The room looked great. Weather was nasty but it was well worth getting drenched to get there.

May as well get used to Whitmarsh's errors (0.00 / 0)
They tend to outnumber his non-errors.  It would be a big mistake to rely upon any information for which he is the sole source.
