Who Is Larry Joe Doherty?

President Bush has pledged to veto the renewal of SCHIP - the Children's Health Insurance Program.  And while the bill passed the House of Representatives, Bush is emboldened because the House lacks a veto-proof majority by approximately 12 votes.

One of those votes belongs to Texas' Mike McCaul, who has rubberstamped Bush's every move, from denying children's health insurance to supporting, funding, and apologizing for this misguided war.  So what's emboldening Mike McCaul?  It's simple, a gerrymandered district drawn by the hands of Tom Delay.

I can tell you firsthand that taking on a well-funded Republican incumbent is no job for the weak-willed or easily intimidated, and that's why I'm proud to endorse Larry Joe Doherty - a Democrat who will unseat Mike McCaul and send a message of what real Texas values are.

You may already know Larry Joe from his highly-rated television series "Texas Justice," which I believe gives him a natural advantage in name ID.  But don't be fooled by the lighter side of him the show brought out - Larry Joe is a nationally recognized expert in legal ethics and built a reputation for suing unethical lawyers and holding our legal system to a higher standard of ethical conduct.  Time and again, Larry Joe stood up to the biggest, richest law firms in Texas, and won.  Now he wants to remind some in Washington that no one stands above the law.

Larry Joe has been outspoken about the need to bring an end to the misguided war in Iraq, kicking America's oil addiction, and making healthcare truly affordable to working, middle class families. Larry Joe is exactly the kind of leader working families in District 10 have been waiting for - principled, independent, and gifted at communicating the truth to juries and voters alike.

And make no mistake; despite the arrogance of Bush, Tom Delay and Mike McCaul, this race is winnable.  In 2006, my friend Ted Akrum held McCaul to just 55% of the vote.  Larry Joe has already raised four times as much money as Ted.  As the national tide continues to turn in Democrats' favor, we owe it to ourselves to field a candidate who can win.

That's why I hope I can count on you to support Larry Joe's campaign with your time, your money and your vote.  To learn more, visit his website at www.larryjoe.com.

Up here in the Washington State 4th CD we also have a Repub rubber stamp that we want to get rid of by the name of Doc (lapdog) Hastings.  Like Mike he fully supports the Bush war and has no care for children.  Doc was the only member of the entire Washington congressional delegation to vote against SCHIP.

I've about maxed out the money I can give to our Democratic candidate, George Fearing, but I'm going to send some money to Larry Joe.  Maybe some of y'all can send some scratch to George.

Eastern Washington is a lot like West Texas.  A dollar here buys much more advertising than dollars in the big cities.

Don't know Richard, but respect him a ton.

The question is: Is Larry Joe finally catching traction...or Is he just getting more organized about getting the word out?
