Republican Party Taps Heflin as New Director

by: Matt Glazer

Mon Jul 30, 2007 at 11:43 AM CDT

The Republican Party of Texas is proud to announce that Talmadge Heflin is leaving the conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation to take over as the Executive Director of the RPT.

“Talmadge Heflin has over twenty five years of conservative leadership and experience as both a leader in the Texas Legislature and a businessman. This background will be invaluable in helping lead the team of political professionals we have assembled who will lead Republicans to victory in 2008 at the Republican Party of Texas,” said Tina Benkiser, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.

This is a perfect fit for the Republican Party and we wanted to suggest a few other key offices they might want to fill:

Staff:

Arlene Wohlgemuth - Vice Chair
Gene Seaman - Ethics Adviser/Property Manager
Tom DeLay - Fundraiser/Finance director (with Jim Ellis, Warren Robold, and John Colyandor assisting him)
Tom Craddick - Rules Committee Director
Debbie Riddle - Communications Director
George Antuna - Asst. Comm. Director
Mark Foley - Student Outreach/Campus Recruitment
George Allen - Minority Recruitment

Special Projects:

Mike Krusee - Toll Director
Warren Chisum - Marriage Protector Director
Ron Wilson - Convention Parliamentarian
Bill Zedler - Court Jester/Comedian
Al Edwards - RPT Cheerleader

For immigration policy coordinator.

God knows nobody in Irving wants to claim her for our own anymore.

And how about Fidelito to reach out for the all-important youth vote?

Heflin- GOP has lost its mind! (5.00 / 1)
Since when do family values include child theft? Heflin tried to steal the child of people he said were his "guests" (they said they were staying there and working, I believe, for no pay.) I believe they were immigrants from Africa, if I remember the story correctly.
He took it to court to some of his GOP buddies, and, of course, they ruled for him- on what basis other than he was their GOP buddy, I can't imagine! It ended up in the Supreme Court, as I remember it, and Helfin was sure those Republicans would award him the child, since he was such a good Republican, but, boy, was he ever surprised when they actually followed the law. That little episode told us all we ever need to know about him. I will say that I think he did truly love that child, but why he thought his love for the child was more important than that of the child's parents, just because he was rich and powerful tells you all about his character.
I think the Texas GOP has now gone completely insane.

Gives a WHOLE new meaning to the phrase "no child left behind!" :)

Kathi, maybe the TRP (0.00 / 0)
chose Heflin as its leader precisely because he is a mirror image of the party.
