| This Saturday, June 30th from 5:30pm-7: 30pm in Southlake, Texas, the Mid-Cities Democrats will be launching our new and innovative fundraising program geared towards creating a candidate fund that will lay a financial foundation for men and women to step forward and be torchbearers for our Party in Tarrant County.
Our goal is to get 100 people to donate $100 or more toward the building of a fund that promotes active campaigning and active fundraising on the part of the candidate; as a result, they will be rewarded with matching funds through the 100 for $100 program. No blank checks, you must be an active messenger for our Party.
For the first time in a long time we have viable races in our territory that will allow Democrats to run aggressive and competitive campaigns. One example? |
| Senate District 10, currently held by Republican Kim Brimer, is ripe for a blue wave. Terri Moore, two-time Democratic candidate for District Attorney, garnered 49.2% of the vote in the combined precincts encompassing Brimer’s district. The trends have been moving in Democratic favor of about 3.5% every cycle since 2004, with the expectation of a base at about 45% come 2008. This senate district forks into the Mid-Cities area and encompasses territory currently held by Representative Paula Hightower-Pierson.
That’s not all though, if we are able to field a coordinated campaign of constable, county commissioner, and various state representative seats throughout the Northeast Tarrant County area then we finally have choices on the ballot for citizens in our area.
Moreover, the 100 for $100 program is a Win/Win for Tarrant County because part of the funds are for Northeast Tarrant County candidates, but the rest is for defending Democrats like Paula Hightower-Pierson in HD 93, and funding viable races against Bill Zedler in HD 96 and our future candidate in the retiring Anna Mowery HD 97 area.
Texas is ripe for change in 2008 and the Mid-Cities Democrats will do its part in helping Tarrant County elect Democrats to county offices, the state house, and the senate. We can turn the tables earlier then expected with fundraising programs and efforts like this.
