(Busy Sunday for both gubernatorial campaigns. - promoted by Alex Hunt)

Team Gammage will be having a little impromptu pre-primary party at Mother Egans Sunday night around 6:00. We're going to try to set up the TV projector so we can laugh at the Oscars and get geared up to WIN ON TUESDAY!

Hope you can come! Mother Egans is at 6th and West on the SE corner (next to Molotov).

I'll make some Gammage t-shirts tonight (5.00 / 1)
and bring em.

No fighting over the sizes though.

Go Kat! Its fun and easy! (0.00 / 0)
Not to mention you get a big kick out of seeing folks wearing them - sure worked that way at Drexler's!

Are you guys serious? (1.67 / 3)
Maybe some of us will drive over from Houston.  We might even be tempted to come early and stop in to see Chris Bell, if he's going to be there.

Heck, if he knew any Gammage Houstonians were coming, he'd probably duck out or have another little tantrum or like he did at Drexlers, do both.

what... (3.00 / 1)
did bell do at drexler's? i was there but must have missed it...

there was an entire table of young people that he ignored, however. i was sitting with some fellow Young Democrats, as Chris was shaking hands with table after table, he looked at several of the members of my table, and then walked away. We were stunned. He looked us straight in the eye and walked away.

Once Gammage arrived, he did the table meet-n-greet as well, only he came up to our table and shook our hands and let us ask him questions. A true candidate, if I may so so myself...

It was quiet and only a few of us witnessed it. (3.00 / 2)
As you saw, during the event, there were always two people standing at the door, directing the arrivals to the ante room to sign in.  I had recieved a call that Bob and Hank Gilbert were just about to drive up, so I went over to the door and
was standing there talking to the two people working the door.  I'm a member of Oil Patch Democrats and the two working the door were the president and a board member of OPD, both wearing Gammage stickers.  The president of OPD and I had previously supported Bell and he knew it.

We didn't even see Chris come up behind us to leave, we were watching people arriving.  Anyway, the guy with him pushed through and Chris followed with his head down and a very bitter look.  John (OPD pres) said very casually, "Are you leaving?"  Chris mumbled yes.  So John said, "The program is just getting started. Aren't you going to stay awhile?"  Chris mumbled something, with his head down and looking annoyed. John said, what? Chris actually glared at him and said, "It's my son's birthday." and kept walking.

As you know this was a family event. For a huge crowd, on his own turf, you'd think he could have asked to be the first speaker (the organizers would have given it to him) brought Alison and the boys, talked for 10 minutes and still been out by 6:15pm and off to Chuck E. Cheese.

He also hadn't gone over to Austin to speak to the Texas Democratic Women's Convention, because he said it was his son's birthday.  I can't understand that, since Bob and Hank Gilbert and Fred Head had been at the convention and still made it to Drexler's, in fact, Fred was already there while Chris was still there.

The pres of OPD was stunned and repeated the incident to several people over the evening.  The woman at the door had just that week switched from Bell to Gammage and she was so taken back, that she told me if she hadn't already been wearing a Gammage sticker, she'd be reaching out for one right that minute.

I've known Chris for 10+ years and though he's often moody, I've never seen him act rudely, well sarcastic, but this was different.  I'm now hearing from others, that it's not a new thing.  Oh well, many years and several contributions later, I live and learn.

Routine for Bell? (0.00 / 0)
I am wondering if Bell's odd behavior is routine for him and those who have been around him are starting to catch on to it.  Bell came to a scheduled event in Georgetown and arrived an hour late. During the open questions someone in the group asked him why he had failed to file his financial statement, he fumbled around, avoided the question, never answered and then went on to a whole different subject. If he bases his campaign on Ethics, then it would be most appropriate to adhere to the current laws before considering making new ones. But, then Bell went on to bash Bob Gammage to the elderly group he was addressing, and even went so far as to tell them to get off the Gammage band wagon. I don't think bashing sessions go over well with the older/wiser generation. So, maybe there is another side to Bell that we are starting to see. Is this how he is going to handle pressure? Maybe he did okay in politics as long as he was unopposed. But, what we really need is a Governor that can stand strong in all situations!
