Help Us Find Election Clerks For The March 1 2016 Democratic Primary!
We always need hundreds of election clerks to help hold the Primary and Runoff, and each time some of our Election Judges have difficulty finding enough people to serve as clerks. We would like to get some more help in locating some clerks, and we’re even willing to pay for one or two part-time people to be CLERK COORDINATORS to help the search. We also need to get started on this NOW (the Primary will be here sooner than you think!) If you might be interested, fill out the on-line application form at https://form.jotform.com/53376865545973 If you have more questions, call the party office at 214-821-8331. Thanks!

Filing for the 2016 Primary

began filing for the 2016 Primary ballot on Saturday, November 14. The deadline for filing is set by law for 6 PM, Monday, December 14.

The candidates whose filings have been accepted as valid and signed by the County Chair are posted on our Candidate Filings 2016 page at http://dallasdemocrats.org/elections/380.html, along with the contact information they have given us, including links to websites etc. When candidates first apply for the Primary ballot, we post them unofficially on the DCDP Twitter page, and also (with known links and some photos of filings) at http://stoutdemblog.blogspot.com/ The officially filed candidates are also posted (without links) to the Secretary of State’s website at

began filing for the 2016 Primary ballot on September 15. Their deadline for filing is also set by law for the same time and date, 6 PM, Monday, December 14. The filing form is available online or at the DCDP office. They must be notarized, and we almost always have one or more notaries available at the office. If you get the form notarized elsewhere you may bring it by, mail it in (BUT we must receive it by the filing deadline!), or even fax it in, but only after getting it notarized. There is no fee for filing for Precinct Chair. Read more, find a link to the form, and scroll down to see a list of precincts and vacancies at http://dallasdemocrats.org/about/precinct-chairs.html

NOTE: Even if you were elected to fill out a current term as Precinct Chair, those current terms end after next year’s Primary Runoff, so you will need to be filed in the Primary to be elected to the next two-year term.

Besides our regular office hours, the DCDP office will also be open the last weekend before the filing deadline, from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, December 12, and again from 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday afternoon, December 13. Please do not wait until the last day for filing.

After filing:
We will be having a FILING FIESTA PARTY starting at 6:30 PM once filing ends on the deadline day, Monday, December 14, at the party office at 4209 Parry Ave, Dallas 75223.

Order of candidates on the primary ballot?
That will be determined by a drawing two days later, on Wednesday, December 16, at our
HOLIDAY PARTY AND BALLOT DRAWING, at 6:30 PM at the CWA Union Hall, 1408 N. Washington Ave. at Bryan, Dallas. Candidates and their representatives and families, Precinct Chairs, and all Democrats are welcome to attend and join in the festivities

Filing And Holiday Parties
The Dallas County Democratic Party and lots of Democratic clubs and organizations are having parties to celebrate the holidays. No doubt there are others we missed. Email to Roundup AT DallasDemocrats.org and we’ll add them next week.

Please note that the DCDP is holding two parties in December. (Yes, that is DCDP Chair Carol Donovan at right with our new Democratic Donkey pinata.) On the last day for filing, Monday, December 14, we’ll have a Filing Fiesta Party at the DCDP office after filing ends at 6 PM, with the party beginning at 6:30.

Then two days later, on Wednesday, December 16, we’ll be drawing for order on the Primary ballot for contested races, and we’ll have a DCDP Holiday Party at the same time at the CWA Hall, 1408 North Washington at Bryan, starting at 6:30 PM. All Democrats are welcome. See you there!
