In Memory: John Knutson

John Kenneth Knutson died last Thursday at 75. He was a longtime Precinct Chair and a well-liked active Democrat, serving on several DCDP committees. Born in Chicago, he taught chemistry then worked for various companies including INTEL and Texas Instruments. He was involved in Dallas Area Interfaith, an avid handball player, hunter, fisherman, and bridge player. John is survived by his wife Sandra, two sons, and four granddaughters. Instead of flowers, please consider memorials to Dallas Area Interfaith or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.

Memorial services are TODAY, Monday, November 23, at 1 PM at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6411 LBJ Freeway, Dallas.

DCDP Office Closed For Thanksgiving Holidays
To allow staff and volunteers to enjoy the holidays with their families and friends, the DCDP office will close at Noon on Wednesday, November 25, and be closed all day on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27.

Filing Continues for Public Office in the 2016 Primary
Filing for candidates for Precinct Chair for the 2016 Democratic Primary began on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Candidates for public office began filing on Saturday, November 14, 2014. Filing ends for candidates for both Precinct Chair and for public office on Monday, December 14, 2015, and is set by law to end at 6 PM.

Note to Precinct Chairs and candidates for Precinct Chair:
the current term will end twenty days after the 2016 Primary Runoff. If you want to be elected to the next two-year term, you will need to file for the Primary ballot. You can find a link to the form and more information about Precinct Chairs at this page:

Who Has Applied To Be On The Primary Ballot?
As of now, 19 candidates for public office have filed for the 2016 Democratic Primary ballot here. Their applications become officially filed when the County Chair, Carol Donovan, signs off on them as valid; as of Friday, all of those 18 are official.We have been posting unofficial listings as they happen on the DCDP Twitter page, and also (with known links) at http://stoutdemblog.blogspot.com/
