Filing Has Begun for Public Office in the 2016 Primary
Filing for candidates for Precinct Chair for the 2016 Democratic Primary began on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Candidates for public office began filing on Saturday, November 14, 2014. Filing ends for candidates for both Precinct Chair and for public office on Monday, December 14, 2015, and is set by law to end at 6 PM.

Note to Precinct Chairs and candidates for Precinct Chair:

Find more information about running for public office and links to forms for filing for the primary, filing of campaign treasurers, filing fees, and to the petition forms that candidates can get voters to sign to get on the primary ballot in order to avoid paying filing fees), at http://www.dallasdemocrats.org/elections/election-facts.html

Who Has Applied To Be On The Primary Ballot?
As of now, 16 candidates for public office have applied for the 2016 Democratic Primary ballot (one today and two yesterday). Their applications become officially filed when the County Chair, Carol Donovan, signs off on them as valid. This happens within a few days. We have been posting unofficial listings as they happen on the DCDP Twitter page, and also (with known links) at http://stoutdemblog.blogspot.com/

DCDP Executive Committee Meeting
new precinct chairs
On Monday the DCDP Executive Committee (consisting of the County Chair and Precinct Chairs) held their quarterly meeting at the CWA union hall. They heard reports on party activity and finances and elected nine people to fill vacant Precinct Chair positions, in Precincts 1717, 3301, 1061, 2805, 2309, 2901, 3109, 3018, and 4017. (Shown above are some of the new Precinct Chairs at their swearing-in, with County Chair Carol Donovan.)

The Committee also passed three resolutions. They voted unanimously to endorse Dallas’ 13-year-old equal rights ordinance and oppose any current or future attempts to repeal. In a second resolution, they voted to “condemn Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s un-American plan to bar Syrian refugees from Texas. We support President Obama and the Texas Democratic Party’s compassionate stand toward refugees seeking asylum in our great country.” (Precinct Chairs are shown above voting to pass this.) A third resolution called upon the Dallas City Council to reconsider its vote to allow a cement plant to move uphill from a middle school in Oak Cliff.
