If you are looking for the results liveblog, I've moved it to a new post over here. -kt

Today's the day where we all see if Democrats can go two for two. Katy Hubener vs. Kirk "Empty-Nest" England in the Special Election for HD 106. Anyone who wants a last minute review about the race, read here:

My prediction... (0.00 / 0)
52-48, Hubener.

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

good call! (0.00 / 0)
Its a beautiful day for an election.  Katy is not running against the then-popular Shrub (whose picture was all over Ray Allen's mail pieces with his arm around Ray).  People are sick of the Republican war on public school children.  The momentum for the November elections is already evident.  I think its going to be a great day for Katy, for Democrats, and for Texas public school children.

Vision = Truth to Power

The Annie's list van just arrived in Grand Prairie (3.00 / 2)
The UAW union hall is buzzing with activity.  It's great weather up here, and everything seems to be organized and on schedule.

The organizers here have assigned us to several different teams, and we'll be hitting the streets in two different shifts.  The voters have already been hit with mail, phones and TV, and we're simply flushing ID'd voters.  The organizers are predicting this race could be decided by as few as hundred votes.

Thank you Ian for the report! (0.00 / 0)
And more importantly for going.  I so wish I could be there with you.  So you represent us well.

Flush'em out and GOTV!

We want a report when we win tonight about the whole exciting story.  We can wait for you post until tomorrow. I know you'll be on the road home late tonight.

Things are going well (0.00 / 0)
We were just fed with some hot Texas chili, and we're getting ready for our final push.  If we work hard, we'll knock on almost every door in our universe at least once.  The targeted voter lists are working out well, and we've escorted a few old ladies to the polls.

Almost 100 volunteers have come out in support of Katy today!  A special shout out to Rep. Lon Burnam who's been phone banking all day long.

good luck to Katy. I know she will win and she deserves to win. If you are up in HD 106 get your blue donkey butt out and vote!

Good luck and get out the vote.  We need it!

Numbers Last Cycle (0.00 / 0)
Just FYI, here are the numbers from last time:

ALLEN, RAY  18,828  52.6%  52.6%
HUBENER, KATY  16,987  47.4%  47.4%

So far, she's got a way to go to beat her percentage last time (of course, keep in mind there is low turnout and she'll have another chance in November if things don't go our way this time.

Congrats to Katy (0.00 / 0)
She came up a little short, but ran a great race in a GOP district on a short timeline.

She wins this in November.

Everyone involved up there deserves a little rest and then it is back to fighting through the fall.

Again, great work to all and let's build on this.

Aw, nuts... (0.00 / 0)
District 106 got screwed, anyway.  Let's see how much they like having this Repuke speaking on their behalf.
