In this week’s episode, Imad and I unpack the GOP’s 2016 field from Rick Perry’s entry to Rand Paul’s filibuster and Ted Cruz’ affinity for video games.
Things also got interesting on the Democrat’s side as Lincoln Chafee, the anti-war, pro same sex marriage, environmentalist, former Republican mayor, Governor, and U.S. Senator from Rhode Island announced his candidacy. What would America look like under a President Chafee? Not sure, but, it will be measured on the metric system (whoot!).
We look at what Gov. Abbott has been up too…and it is no good. Yes, he signed a bill that allowed epilepsy patients to use oil extracted from cannabis. But, he simultaneously announced that as long as he remained governor we would not move the state towards legalization of medical or recreational marijuana. He also vetoed a bipartisan bill that would have allowed someone watching their loved one suffering from a drug overdose to call authorities without risk of prosecution, SHAME.
Many folks breathed a sigh of relief with the lege left town but, we’ll have to wait and see if Abbott caves to social conservatives who are currently petitioning him to call a special session to undermine the impending SCOTUS decision on marriage equality.
