Burnt Orange Report Presidential Straw Poll

by: John McClelland

Sun Feb 11, 2007 at 00:00 AM CST

(Vote in our poll on the right-hand side of the page. - promoted by Burnt Orange Report)

Now that Obama has officially entered the Presidential potato sack race, I think it is fitting we do a quick straw poll among BOR readers as to who they would support in the Democratic Primary at this point and time. While Edwards continues to run a slight lead in DailyKos polling, what do BOR readers think?

In the interest of my own biased science, Zogby style, I am not going to include candidates that have not announced their intentions. But I will choose "other" as an option in case you don't like anyone at the moment or you think Bill Clinton will find a way to run for office again.

Combination (0.00 / 0)
I'm a combination of no-clue and Obama.  Obama is my favorite right now, but at this point it's way to early to commit.  None of them have really started talking about the issues yet and I am waiting to here some details about each one first.

Junta? (0.00 / 0)
I figure Bush is going to apply some of his extra-Constitutional powers and call off hte 2008 Presidential election and decree himself Dictator for Life. Should I just check "Other"?

Although I'm an Edwards supporter, I'm with ya on that one!!  :-)

Interesting (0.00 / 0)
Our last poll had the majority wanting Ethics Reform more than anything else.

I just thought that needed to be pointed out.

Ethics? (0.00 / 0)
I wasn't aware being a politician was ethical :)

Al Gore... (0.00 / 0)
I have a very strong feeling that Al Gore is going to come into this race on Oscar night...  What better national audience than EVERYONE watching the Oscars to announce?  So, I'll vote other and patiently wait for my hero to come riding in on his horse... or hybrid... whatever! :)

Environmental issues (0.00 / 0)
I don't know if I would want him to win, but I definitly hope he runs and is one of the main contenders, because that will help highlight environmental issues and global warming.

The War... (0.00 / 0)
You can't forget that he was amongst the FIRST to oppose the war, speaking out against it while Hillary and Edwards were both voting for it.  At that time, everyone assumed he was running for President in 2004, so his vote took true courage/guts.  Since then, he hasn't wavered in his opposition.

Al Gore is in NO way a single issue candidate.  He has more experience than ANY other candidate in this race... period.  Plus, technology is going to be HUGE in the coming eight years and he has been WAY ahead of the curve on this... in fact, isn't he on the Board of Directors for Apple?  I know during the IPhone buildup Steve Jobs checked his voicemail and had a message from Al.

Plus, and this will earn me ridicule, but did anyone else hear that he was mentioned on the TV show "The OC" this past week in a really positive light?  I'd love to see what he's polling today, I think we'll all be SHOCKED by how well he's doing in Fav/Unfav...

The environment is his signature issue (0.00 / 0)
I know he is not a one issue candidate, but the environment is his signature issue.  I like him a lot and for reasons beyond just his strong environmental stances.  My reservation about him is that he is old news at this point given his failed attempt in 2000.

No way (0.00 / 0)
There is no way he is going into this race on Oscar.  All indications is that he not running.

whoops...Oscar "night" that is (0.00 / 0)
plus all indications "are" that he is not running.  Sorry I have proofreading issues today. LOL

Gore-Latiffah 08 (0.00 / 0)
Al Gore was on the Grammys presenting with Queen Latiffah. Maybe they should form the next ticket :) Then Latiffah can sing "UNITY" and it would be sweet.
