BOR Calls Race for Ciro Rodriguez

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Tue Dec 12, 2006 at 08:28 PM CST

I've been pouring over data and just updated the County Comparison post. Seeing the counties that are out are still for Ciro, and that Bonilla's highest turnout counties are in, and Bexar County has just updated to 65 of 151 counties in, I just can't put the math together anymore expect to say this:

Burnt Orange Report is calling TX-23 for Democrat Ciro Rodriguez.

(The only thing that would mess things up is if the data is off. Along those lines, the SOS says there are 92 Precincts that Bexar can report and Bexar says there are 151 precincts that it can report. Either way, the amount reported on each page is the same % of precincts.)

Update: Bexar County just updated. Now says 75% reporting for the county. Ciro at 58.4% in Bexar.

Update 2: Check the posts below for more updates on existing totals and charts. Ciro's won this things. Congrats to the DCCC to whom major credit must be placed for winning this election. Those folks have been great and put their money where their mouth was. Looks like we just saved ourselves some time and money in 2008. And to think, Ciro had originally dropped out of this race back when he first filed before dropping back in. Looks like he's just dropped back into Congress.

What counties... (0.00 / 0)
...are considered Bonilla strongholds and have election day and early vote totals both come in for those counties?

And, did you like my picture?

Really? (3.00 / 1)
Do you know the spread on the JPs being reported from Bexar?  If it's even, then I agree with you.  But, if they haven't counted JP3 as much as say JP1, this is still a race.

No Jinxes (0.00 / 0)
It's looking good, so hopefully we are past the possibility of Jinxing it.

75% of Bexar is now in... (5.00 / 1)
ciro is still at 58%.

Feels Better (0.00 / 0)
Given that Bexar is essentially half JP3 and 75% are in total, that means quite a few of those votes are coming from JP3.

I feel better now.

I believe it too KT (0.00 / 0)
I think Ciro won!

Looks like som republican precincts came in... (0.00 / 0)
down in bexar.  94% in now and ciro went down to 56%

Check out Maverick (0.00 / 0)
The Democrats turned out in higher nubmers than on 11/7 if I read KT's numbers right earlier

12/12
Maverick
Bonilla 471
Ciro 2,857
total 3,328
15 of 15

11/7 per KT
Maverick
Dems 2,521 71%
Repubs 1,051 29%
total 3,572

Maverick rocks!!

Ciro's seniority (0.00 / 0)
Anybody know if Ciro will get to keep (and build on) his seniority from his previous terms in Congress? Or will they make him start over?

(Notice I'm assuming he IS going back to Congress!)

AP just called it. (0.00 / 0)
for Ciro.  Congrats.

Congrats, Ciro! (0.00 / 0)
And they say there's no justice in the world...

First the Democrats win back Congress, and then a month later we win back a seat that was stolen from us by DeLay.  It's nice when the moral victory lines up with the electoral victory, right?

Anyway, Ciro is going to do great for this district and for UTSA, and January is just getting more and more exciting. =D
